2009 NFL Power Rankings: Week 13

Power Rankings for Week 13 of the 2009 NFL Season

Zac Wassink

December is upon us and it's time for a new edition of NFL power rankings. These power rankings and my upcoming NFL picks are for week 13 of the NFL regular season.

Week 12 was a successful week for my NFL picks. It was not successful, however, for my Cleveland Browns or New York Giants. One good thing about the Browns is that they cannot get any lower in my NFL power rankings. They're not winning another game, this season.

Without further ado, here are the most controversial NFL power rankings on Associated Content for week 13 of the season.

32. Cleveland (1-10): Things can't get any worse for the Cleveland Browns and I don't expect them to emerge from the cellar of my NFL power rankings until 2010. Even that may be a stretch.

31. St. Louis (1-10): The Bears should keep the Rams beneath 30 in these NFL power rankings. Even Jay Cutler should be able to beat the Rams.

30. Tampa Bay (1-10): How did the Bucs blow that game to the Falcons on Sunday? Performances like that explain the 1-10 record.

29. Detroit (2-9): So this is what the Lions look like when they're not playing the Cleveland Browns.

28./27. Oakland & Kansas City (3-8): The trend of linking the Raiders and Chiefs in my NFL power rankings continues. Is there really that much of a difference between the two?

26. Washington (3-8): When did the Redskins get heart? Washington will need more than heart in order to beat the Saints this Sunday.

25. Chicago (4-7): Wow, Jay Cutler. Wow. What will be higher at the end of the season? Cutler's total interceptions or where the Bears end up in NFL power rankings?

24. Carolina (4-7): The Panthers get this low in NFL power rankings by losing to the Jets. What a terrible football game.

23. Seattle (4-7): Good news is the Seahawks won. Bad news is they were playing the Rams.

22. Buffalo (4-7): The Bills could actually move up in my NFL power rankings as they have the Jets this Thursday.

21. New York Jets (5-6): I still can't believe the Jets are in the bottom third of NFL power rankings as this point of the season. They may fall even lower next week.

20. Houston (5-6): The Texans should have beaten the Colts. Twice. Houston must learn to close games if this team is ever going to contend for anything.

19. Miami (5-6): The Dolphins will have to face a very angry New England Patriots squad. Miami will definitely be lower in next week's NFL power rankings.

18. San Francisco (5-6): The most amazing thing about the 49ers is that they're still in the divisional race and they play the Seahawks this week.

17. Atlanta (6-5): With Matt Ryan out this weekend and the Falcons playing the Eagles, don't expect Atlanta to go higher in my NFL power rankings.

16. New York Giants (6-5): Eli Manning is hurt. Antonio Pierce is out for the year. Things aren't looking good for Big Blue.

15. Jacksonville (6-5): With the Texans and Dolphins ahead, the Jags could actually remain in the wild card race.

14. Pittsburgh (6-5): Dennis Dixon is better than Big Ben. That's right. I said it.

13. Tennessee (5-6): I'm not sayin'. I'm just sayin'.

12. Baltimore (6-5): Why do I keep having faith in the Ravens in my NFL power rankings and picks? I really don't know.

11. Denver (7-4): The Broncos will have to do more than beat the Giants in order to get back up in my NFL power rankings.

10. Arizona (7-4): The roller coaster Cards could make a big push in NFL power rankings by defeating the Vikes this Sunday.

9. Philadelphia (7-4): I'm putting the Eagles this low in my NFL power rankings because they struggled against the Redskins. In Philadelphia. Yuck.

8. New England (7-4): No, the Saints didn't expose the New England defense. That defense hasn't been good all season long.

7. Green Bay (7-4): I've been riding the "Packers are making the playoffs" train for a month, now. Why get off now?

6. Cincinnati (8-3): Struggling against the Browns defense will earn you a spot outside of the top five in these NFL power rankings.

5. Dallas (8-3): Can Tony Romo actually perform in December? We'll see.

4. San Diego (8-3): The Chargers have the Browns this week. They're going nowhere in these NFL power rankings.

3. Minnesota (10-1): Again, the Vikings are kept out of the top two of NFL power rankings by the Saints and Colts.

2. Indianapolis (11-0): The Colts are again division champs but they still can't get atop my NFL power rankings.

1. New Orleans (11-0): It was only a month ago when NFL fans were yelling at me about putting the Saints at the top of my NFL power rankings. How's my decision working out for you, now?

Unfotunatley would move Steelers over the Titans. I would have to keep the Bengals over Cowboys and trust me I know what are saying about struggling with the Browns. I too am a Browns fan. Who would've thought the day would come when you couldn't say at least we are better than the Lions and Raiders? Oddly enough I have the same problem with the Ravens, I just keep thinking they should be better.

The Vikings will be the Cardinals hands down. But I liked your rankings! Thanks for the overview!

I think you are right that the Bengals should have handled the Browns better, but I still wouldn't put them below the Cowboys. I anticipate a Saints/ Bengals Super Bowl. WHo Dey vs. WHo Dat
