2009 NFL Power Rankings: Week 9

Power Rankings for Week 9 of the 2009 NFL Regular Season

Zac Wassink
The first football weekend in November has come to an end. That means it's time for some updated NFL power rankings. These NFL power rankings as well as my NFL picks are for week 9 of the 2009 regular season.

There are quite a few changes from last week's NFL power rankings. The top two teams in my NFL power rankings have flip-flopped once again, a couple of teams got their first win of the season and the Browns, well they still stink.

Where does your favorite team place in what are still the most controversial NFL power rankings on Associated Content? Read on to find out.

32. Tampa Bay (0-7): The Bucs have Green Bay, Miami and the Saints in the next three weeks. Is anybody picking Tampa Bay to be out of the cellar of any NFL power rankings before Thanksgiving?

31. Cleveland (1-7): The Browns fired their GM after he held the job for less than a season. They have no offense. I almost placed them at 32 in these NFL power rankings this week.

30. Washington (2-5): Look on the bright side, Washington fans. With the Browns and Bucs in the league, your team won't be last in NFL power rankings anytime soon.

29. Kansas City (1-6): The Chiefs could actually win a game or two with the Jags and Raiders coming up. I still wouldn't expect to see KC above 23 in these NFL power rankings.

28. Detroit (1-6): Just when you thought it was safe to think the Lions would have two victories. I'm just glad I didn't have to watch the Rams-Lions game.

27. St. Louis (1-7): No winless season for the Rams! I still don't see the Rams getting above 25 in my NFL power rankings.

26. Tennessee (1-6): Thanks, Chris Johnson, for carrying my fantasy football team to yet another victory.

25. Oakland (2-6): How bad are the teams in this section of NFL power rankings? The Raiders are actualy 25.

24. Seattle (2-5): The Seahawks have to take care of business against both Detroit and Arizona in order to save their season.

23. Buffalo (3-5): Getting demolished at home puts the Bills at 23 in these NFL power rankings.

22. Jacksonville (3-4): Tennessee had to win sometime. For that reason, I put the Jags just ahead of the Bills in my NFL power rankings.

21. San Francisco (3-4): 49ers fans have to be frustrated this week as their team had a few chances to defeat the Colts in Indianapolis.

20. Carolina (3-4): The Panthers are slowly moving up on NFL power rankings. Could Carolina be a team to look out for during the second half of the 2009 NFL season?

19. Miami (3-4): Ted Ginn's kick returns put the Dolphins at 19 in these NFL power rankings.

18. Arizona (4-3): The NFC West is horrible. Again.

17. New York Jets (4-4): A month ago the Jets were near the top of my NFL power rankings. Now, they are struggling to stay afloat.

16. San Diego (4-3): With the Denver loss, the Chargers are right back in the race for the AFC West.

15. Chicago (4-3): Beating up on the Browns won't move the Bears up too high in these NFL power rankings.

14. Green Bay (4-3): I understand that Green Bay has some injuries but can we please get Aaron Rodgers some help before the man gets killed out there?

13. Atlanta (4-3): The Falcons aren't the class of the NFC South in 2009, after all. Can Atlanta get back to the top ten in these NFL power rankings?

12: Baltimore (4-3): Dominating a previously undefeated team puts the Ravens at 12 in my NFL power rankings.

11. New York Giants (5-3): Putting my beloved football Giants this low in NFL power rankings gives me no pleasure. There's no denying, however, that this team has serious problems to deal with before facing the Chargers.

10. Houston (5-3): The Texans get the Colts twice in their next three games. Can they hang with the undefeated Colts and move up in NFL power rankings?

9. Dallas (5-2): My sleeper pick of the 2009 season is moving up NFL power rankings. After losing to Big Blue earlier this season, the Cowboys are now ahead of the Giants in the standings.

8. Pittsburgh (5-2): The Steelers were idle this past week but that still doesn't change the fact that plenty of other teams deserve to be higher in NFL power rankings.

7. Cincinnati (5-2): The Bengals can take control of the AFC North as they face the Ravens and Steelers in the next two weeks.

6 New England (5-2): The Pats are well on their way to another division title. Can they beat the Colts in two weeks?

5. Philadelphia (5-2): Even though the Giants are shaky, ca-rushing New York has earned the Eagles the 5 spot in my NFL power rankings.

4. Denver (6-1): How will the Broncos respond to last Sunday's thrashing?

3. Minnesota (7-1): Hollywood Brett Favre is playing great and the Vikes are no question one of the top three teams in the NFL.

2. Indianapolis (7-0): I can't say it enough. NFL power rankings change with every week of the season. Right now, as I write these NFL power rankings, the Colts are the number two team in the league.

1. New Orleans (7-0): A huge win at home on Monday night earns the Saints the top spot in my week 9 NFL power rankings.

One quick note before I conclude this edition of my NFL power rankings. As those of you who've been reading my Zac's Backs piece these last weeks know, I am getting married this weekend. Depending on how things go next week, I may not be publish NFL picks or NFL power rankings next week. I know. You're all heartbroken.

I love that the Raiders are actually 25 (justifiably, too).

Ouch, Chargers bumped your beloved Giants down yet another notch. What a beautiful last two minutes. (/Charger Fan)

I dont know what the !@#$ you're smoking. I dont care what you rank the dolp hins. even if you had them at 31, the jets should then be #32

How can you possibly justify putting the Jets ahead of the Dolphins? The Dolphins have beat them twice, both in Miami and New York. Its pretty clear which team is better.

Solid list. I understand the idle Steelers issue. The next couple weeks will solidify their ranking somewhere in the top 10. Hard to place them above some of those teams that you put higher right now...

Great picks, and congratulations on your wedding!
