2009 NFL Week 1 Fantasy Football Sleepers to Play

NFL Week 1 Fantasy Football Sleeper Picks; Great Match-ups for Underrated Fantasy Players

TJ Duckett- RB Seattle Seahawks vs. St. Louis Rams
The Seahawks are a 7 point favorite over the Rams and things could get very ugly in Seattle. The Seahawks are a much better team with a healthy Hasselbeck and Houshmandzadeh now on the roster. The passing attack should open up the running lanes, and since Julius Jones has not been what the Seahawks expected, expect Duckett to get a decent amount of carries and a couple of chances to put the ball in the end zone. Don't look past Duckett being a great pick to play in week 1.

Devery Henderson- WR New Orleans Saints vs. Detroit Lions
The Lions are traveling to New Orleans, and are 11+ point underdogs for good reason, they are still the Lions, and had the worst defense in the NFL in 2008. The Lions have a brand new secondary with Philip Buchanon and Anthony Henry, but don't expect them to hold Brees to under 300 yards and 4 touchdowns. Marques Colston and Jeremy Shockey will attract Detroit's attention, and Henderson should get plenty of chances to haul in wide open balls. I like Henderson to get 7 receptions for 95 yards and a touchdown. Starting Henderson would be a great move to get your fantasy season off to a great start.

Knowshon Moreno- RB Denver Broncos vs. Cincinnati Bengals
Moreno, a rookie, is already listed as the Broncos starter before the preseason gets underway. Cincinnati doesn't have the best defense to say the least, and expect the Broncos to have Orton handcuffed, and to run the ball early and often. Moreno and Buckhalter should get plenty of carries. Even if you have more established running backs on your team, start Moreno against the Bengals.

Michael Jenkins- WR Atlanta Falcons vs. Miami Dolphins
The Dolphins had the 8th worst pass defense in 2008, and Matt Ryan picked apart defenses throughout his entire rookie season. Michael Turner will get his, but the Dolphins rushing defense is much better (10th in 2008) than their pass defense. Expect Matt Ryan and the Falcons to air it out, and expect Michael Jenkins to have a solid game with around 90 yards and a touchdown.

Le'Ron McClain- RB Baltimore Ravens vs. Kansas City Chiefs
McClain is not exactly a sleeper, but as a fullback and second option after Willis McGahee, he is often overlooked in fantasy football. The Chiefs had the third to worst rushing defense last season and McClain wrecked teams by rushing for over 900 yards and 10 touchdowns as a fullback! Look for McClain to go huge in week one, I would start him over Kevin Smith (Detroit), Derrick Ward, or Ryan Grant.
