2009 NFL Week 17 Picks and Predictions

It's time for my 2009 NFL Week 17 Picks and Predictions. Who will be the winners and losers in the final week of the regular season with so much at stake?

Let's start my 2009 NFL Week 17 Picks and Predictions with Indianapolis at Buffalo. The Colts have apparently already mailed in the rest of the season with home field advantage wrapped up. Why would Indy bother starting Peyton Manning or any of the other Colts starters now that the undefeated season is out of reach? Look for little or no playing time for the Colts starters in Buffalo to avoid injury. Curtis Painter starts for the Colts and Buffalo wins at home 23-16. Good reps for the backups in a game that does nothing for the 2009 NFL Playoff brackets.

My 2009 NFL Week 17 picks and predictions continue with Jacksonville at Cleveland. The Browns are playing much better of late but the Jags have other plans on this final week of the season. Jacksonville wins going away 23-13.

Chicago should win at Detroit after a big win in overtime over the Vikings. Bears win a tight one 27-21.
Other 2009 NFL Week 17 picks and predictions? San Francisco will win in St. Louis as the Rams continue to play for the top draft pick. 49'ers take home a 27-13 victory.

Pittsburgh is in Miami to face the Dolphins. The Steelers need a win and some luck to make the playoffs. The Steelers playoff hopes end and the 2009 NFL Playoff Brackets get jumbled up thanks to a 23-21 loss to the Dolphins.

My 2009 NFL Week 17 picks and predictions continue with the New York Giants in Minnesota. Can the Vikings right the ship before the playoffs? On the final week of the season the Vikings regain some momentum with a 34-20 win.

The 2009 NFL Week 17 schedule also includes Atlanta at Tampa Bay. The Bucs knocked off the Saints last week. Atlanta still finds a way to win in Tampa 19-14. Still, the Falcons will try to figure out why they aren't one of the teams in the 2009 NFL Playoff Bracket.

New Orleans finishes up their season at red hot Carolina. The Saints have clinched home field so why bother? The undefeated season is already gone so why even put the starters in for a Week 17 game on the schedule? Panthers win 31-14.

New England is in Houston for an interesting match up. The Texans need a win and help. Houston finds a way to get it done with a 28-23 win over the Pats.

My 2009 NFL Week 17 picks and predictions continue with Green Bay in Arizona. The Packers have their win but a win against the Cardinals would be nice. Arizona wins big though 32-17.

Washington is in San Diego for another Week 17 game on the schedule. Can the Redskins finish strong? Probably not. Chargers roll 41-13 in the final game for Jim Zorn. Welcome aboard Mike Shanahan. Nobody will want to play San Diego or have them lined up opposite their team in the 2009 NFL Playoff Bracket.

Tennessee visits Seattle in a pretty meaningless game on the 2009 NFL Week 17 schedule. Unless you consider getting to five hundred an accomplishment. For the Titans, it certainly would have meaning considering they started the season 0-6. Titans win 27-14 and Chris Johnson eclipses the 2,000 yard mark.

Baltimore is also at Oakland and the Raiders have been playing well and could play the role of spoiler. I say the Ravens go in and get their victory anyway 23-10.

Philadelphia is at Dallas in one of the more interesting match ups as my 2009 NFL Week 17 picks and predictions continue. This might as well be a playoff game because both teams will act like it. Dallas wins a Week 17 thriller 31-30.

Kansas City is in Denver to face the struggling Broncos for the 2009 NFL Week 17 schedule finale. Can Denver get back on track? It should happen against the Chiefs and my picks and predictions have Denver romping 31-10 to keep the Broncos in the 2009 NFL Playoff Bracket.

Also on the 2009 NFL Week 17 schedule, Cincinnati is in New York to face the Jets. Cold weather and a tough defense spell troubles for the Bengals. The Jets win an ugly contest 16-13.
