2009 Nissan 370Z Review

Eric Lind
Since is introduction, the Nissan Z car has gone through constant yet subtle refinement. The latest edition, the 370, marks a bump in engine displacement from the 3.5 liter to 3.7, which is the same power plant used in the new Infiniti G37. While the G37 focuses on luxury and comfort, the Z car sheds weight in favor of performance and handling.

The 370 has always been a good handling car, but one of the major complaints has been weight, and although it hasn't been solved, the problem has been addressed indirectly. The bump in power (up to 332 HP) helps with acceleration, and a new optional "Sport" package with better brakes, larger wheels (19 inch) and a limited slip differential which allows you to fire the car out of corners makes the car feel much lighter than it is and makes for a much better driving car than the previous 350. There is still some feeling of weight through the steering, but it is negligible.

The interior retains much of its previous design, but with uprated materials. Better plastics, more supportive seats, and even a glove box makes the cockpit of the new car much more daily driver friendly. The modern design, and careful positioning of the knobs and dials makes sitting in the car even when its not moving a treat. Road noise has been lessened over the previous car, and the same signature engine note is retained.

The styling of the new car is somewhat controversial, it still looks like the 350Z, but with sharper lines and a new roof line, along with the obvious changes to the headlights and taillights.

Overall the new car has been further perfected and refined, which no significant drawbacks typical of newer models. Anyone in the market for a sports car on a budget should stop looking here!
