Eastern Iowa Oktoberfest Celebration Takes Place October 2-4, 2009
Amana Oktoberfest 2009 Events Begin Friday, October 2nd.
Oktoberfest 2009 gets underway with the official Oktoberfest keg tapping ceremony at the Festhalle Barn in Amana. From 4 to 8 pm, visitors can enjoy at the Biergarten live music from Dogs on Skiis, Oktoberfest beer and delicious Amana brats and other fare. During the first day of Amana Oktoberfest the Festhalle Stage will also have live music running from noon until midnight.
Other Friday Oktoberfest activities include quilt and needlework exhibits, blanket weaving and embroidery demonstrations at the Amana Woolen Mill. The Ox Yoke Inn located in Main Amana will also be hosting communal dining and historical experience.
Amana Oktoberfest 2009 Parade and Kids Activities Get Underway on Saturday, October 3rd.
Be sure to arrive early in Main Amana to view the 2009 Oktoberfest parade beginning at 10 am. After the parade, kids will be able to enjoy several fun Oktoberfest activities. The Amana Oktoberfest 2009 kid activities include Kinderplatz, to decorating their own cookies at the Ox Yoke Inn, balloon animals and entertainment at the Chocolate Haus and a special presentation by the Old Creamery Theatre Company at 1 pm of "The Riddle of Rumpelstiltken".
If you go, be sure to take part in the Oktoberfest games including the Keg Toss and Log Sawing Competitions or save your appetite to enter the Brat Eating Contest held at Festhalle Barn in Amana on Saturday afternoon.
Live music and entertainment is featured throughout Amana during the day at Festhalle Barn, Amana restaurants and Millstream Brewery. The Millstream Brewery will also feature the 6th Annual Home Brewers Competition from 1 to 3 pm.
Oktoberfest 2009 in Amana Ends on Sunday, October 4th
The Amana Oktoberfest activities continue through Sunday. Enjoy great music and Oktoberfest beer at Millstream Brewery or learn how to make baskets at the live basket making demonstrations held at the Broom and Basket Shop in Main Amana.
