Opel, as we know it is basically European badge for Saturn. And that means that there might be one of these coming to the United States disguised as a Saturn Aura. The Aura will probably share the same platform, so that means that we might have a four-wheel drive Saturn here in the States. Now, I know that the four-wheel drive system will be an option, but at least it will be an option. And there's more news - the Insignia will also hit the UK market wearing a Vauxhall badge.
And if you like to choose between engines, you're catered for as well. There will be four engines that the Insignia platform will adopt. You'll have a choice of four cylinder to six cylinder engines with power ranging from 110 - 260 horsepower! I think that's plenty for a luxury saloon, but at least it won't encourage you to go all out berserk.
So, with exterior looks like this, what could we expect the internals to look like? Well, we have shots of that, and it's drop-dead good. Like I already said, if it's going to look to look this good, why buy a Mercedes? From the picture, and it's just a picture, and a rendering, at that, it looks like there will be some wooden lining in it. With that, you'll also get sat-nav, climate control, and all the bells and whistles you expect from a luxury sedan. What it's not going to have is a flappy-paddle gearbox. And these don't really work in the real world. They might in Formula-1, but not on the road.
With almost all the bases covered, I can say that this is shaping up to be quite a car. It's a stylish looker, it promises a great deal of luxury and comfort, and it will hit the United States, along with the United Kingdom. Now, let's look at the price. Now, I'm going to be comparing it to Audi and Mercedes because it's in that luxury sedan market. It might not be so much a sports sedan as Mercedes or Audi, but it sure is luxurious. And I'm delighted to report, it will be priced around $23,000-$24,000! That's fantastic! If you want a Mercedes, you'll have to spend at least $30,000, and the story is the same with Audi. This though, looks great, looks suspiciously comfortable, and priced as it is, I think is going to be one of the best cars we might see in 2010!
I've always wanted to get myself an Audi A4, if I were going to buy a luxury sedan, but now, my choice is this much harder.
