Baby name trends change from year to year. One year every child is named Madison, the next year it's Katelyn. So what names will be hot for 2009 and what exactly do these names mean? Here is the list:

Gillian or Jillian - Gillian is Irish for youth. Jillian is Latin for youthfuil. Famous Gillians include Gillian Anderson and Gillian Ferrabee. The name can be easily shortened to Jill.

Arden - Arden is Latin for thrilled or excited. This is a relatively common surname but it is slowly transitioning into first name territory. Famous Ardens include the actress/comedian Arden Myrin.

Kaylee - Kaylee is an American name derived from the names Kay and Lee. It has been gaining popularity over the past few years and has several different spelling variations including Kayleigh and Kaylie. Famous Kaylees include Kaylee DeFer and the fictional character Kaylee Frye.

Gabriella - Gabriella is Spanish for Heroine of God. the name has been gaining popularity thanks to the popularity of two fictional characters: Gabriella Montez played by Vanessa Hudgens in High School Musical and Eva Longorias character of Garbriella Solis on Desprate Housewives.

Emily - A Latin name that has held its popularity for the past few decades. This name is still one of the most popular girls names and will continue to be so for the next several years.

Cole - Cole is Irish for people of victory. It has seen a recent rise in the past few years with fictional characters such as Cole Turner from the television show Charmed.

Eli - Eli is Hebrew for on high. Thanks to the popularity of the now defunct show Eli Stone the name is gaining popularity. Famous Eli's include football player Eli Manning and film diretor Eli Roth.

Nathaniel - Hebrew for gift of God this name continues to be a classic. You will often see Nathaniel shortened to the ever popular Nate. Famous Nathaniel's include Nathaniel Hawthorne.

Seamus - Seamus is an Irish name meaning he who supplants. The name Seamus has been rising in popularity since 2004 and will continue to do so. Famous Seamus' include the fictional Harry Potter character Seamus Finnigan and Brother Seamus from the Big Lebowski.

Micheal or Michael - Like the name Emily this is a popular baby name that has been around forever and is not going anywhere fast. Micheal means who is like the Lord. famous Michaels include Michael J. Fox and Michael Moore.
