Be a part of history on January 20, by attending the inauguration of the 44th president of the United States Mr. Barack Obama.

The Theme for this years inauguration is "A New Birth of Freedom. This will be a big year for Washington D.C. and they expect to see record breaking crowds on January 20th. Everyone is hoping to catch a glimpse of history in the making. The swearing-in ceremony takes place at 11:30am but ticketed guests need to arrive at 9am to check in by security. Tickets are only given to Senators and Representatives and each receives a limited amount of tickets they distribute to the public. There are no ticket agencies or websites that will offer these tickets. Some tickets are being sold on Ebay for $550.

The ceremony will begin at 11:30am with music played by the United States Marine Band, the San Francisco Boys Chorus and the San Francisco Girls Chorus. Diane Feinstein will then call to order and say a view welcoming remarks to the crowd. The invocation will be directed by Dr. Rick Warren from the Saddleback Church from Lake Forest California. Aretha Franklin performs a brief musical performance which is followed by the administering of the Oath of office to vice president-elect Joseph Biden by Associate Justice of the Supreme Court, The Honorable John Paul Stevens. Composer John Williams conducts a brief musical selection including Itzhak Perlman on Violin, Yo-Yo mama on Cello, Anthony McGill on clarinet and Gabriela Montero on Piano. The Honorable John G. Roberts Jr. administers the Oath of Office to President-elect Barack Obama. Barack will address the nation for the first time as president during his Inaugural Address. Elizabeth Alexander recites her poem followed by the National anthem performed by The United States Navy Band "Sea Chanters".

1) Security- Everyone attending the ceremonies will require a ticket including children except infants too young to walk. The color of the ticket corresponds to a section and you must enter the security checkpoint that corresponds to that particular section. The security check-ins will open at 8:00am and you must be through security by 11:30am or you will not be allowed entry.

2) Parking- Try to arrive as early as possible since parking will be limited due to the be record number of visitors to the area. Park near Metro station since this is going to be a huge parking lot and really the only major place to park besides side streets and private parking.

3) Transportation- Parking will be limited so the best way to arrive is by public transportation. Purchase enough Metro fare for a roundtrip and try to purchase your fare ahead of time to avoid long lines at. The three main forms of public transportation in the Washington area is

a. MetroRail-Regional Subway System. Hours of Operation: open at 5 a.m. on weekdays and 7 a.m. weekends,

Closes at Midnight Sunday thru Thursday, and 3 a.m. on Friday and Saturday nights. Fares will range from $1.35 to $5.00 depending on where you are coming from. Roundtrips will be twice that. You will need a SmartTrip Card in order to pay for parking in the Metro Station parking lots. For more information visit www.wmata.com

c. MARC Train Service- Commuter train service. For further distances to travel use the Marc Train Service. They provide reasonable rates and discounts to senior citizens and the disabled. This train service only operates Monday through Friday. For more information visit www.mtamaryland.com

After the new president and vice president get sworn in they will attend a luncheon with President Bush. Around 2:30pm the 56th Inaugural Parade will proceed down Pennsylvania Avenue from the Capitol to the White house. The following day they will attend a prayer service which will conclude this year's Inaugural services.
