2009 Primetime Emmy Awards: More of the Worst Dressed at the Emmys
Marcia Gay Harden Still Takes the Prize for Worst Dressed -- so Far
This writer, being a layman among the artisans and the seamstresses/tailors and the fashion designers, relies on the basic definition of the untrained, even for the red carpet marchers of the 2009 Primetime Emmy Awards. Even untrained, this writer knows gauche when he sees it.
Take Lisa Edelstein's ("House") dark blue number, for instance. Some might find it cute, with white bordering peeking up over the edge of the bodice and along the hem, but it looks somewhat contrived and Daisy-May-ish. It is a nice dress, if one rips out the border.
Phoebe Price seems to be making most of the worst dressed lists with her wadded up sheets concoction. Not only does it wrap, bundle, have slits up the leg, and trail pieces off the arms, Price's dress also presents a long train. She's the spokesperson for "Women In Distress," which is admirable, but she was a woman in distress wearing her linen closet.
Nancy O'Dell of "Access Hollywood" was color coordinated but it just missed. She wore a gold at the neck fades to blue fades to gold metallic gown. With her blonde hair, the effect almost made it. Almost made it off the worst dressed list. Unfortunately, as beautiful as O'Dell might be, she stayed on the list, although the v-shaped neckpiece was effective and certainly in harmony with her plunging-to-the-waist neckline.
And even with the other pictures and videos of stars that have added to the treasure trove of design atrocities, Marcia Gay Harden still wins the prize for Most Atrocious. Her ruby nightmare with straps just doesn't quite get it and does absolutely nothing to accentuate Marcia Gay Harden's features. And when one wears a dress, even one that will make a statement at the 2009 Primetime Emmy Awards, one still wants the statement to be flattering.

Post a Comment"beauty is relative"? Ha!
I couldn't believe what some of the celebs wore. Good sense and taste seemed to be nonexistent (in some cases).
Sarah Silverman looked like she was masquerading as Elizabeth I. Not a good choice.
You are right - their cloting makes their statements.
