The Seafair 2009 schedule has been released. Though Seafair 2009 has technically already opened with the Seafair Torchlight Run and the Miss Seafair Scholarship Program for Women taking place, the first weekend of the 2009 Seafair schedule will be the biggest time for events. Stretching from Green Lake down to the Seattle docks, the 2009 Seafair schedule is packed with fun that the whole family can enjoy, all culminating with the biggest events of Seafair 2009 taking place on Sunday, August 2nd. The main weekend of the 2009 Seafair schedule takes place from Friday, July 31st to Sunday, August 2nd on Lake Union.

Practice shows for the Navy's Blue Angels have already started taking place over Lake Washington, and with the dangers to drivers paying too much attention to the planes, the I-90 Bridge has had to be closed several times. The first I-90 bridge closure was Thursday morning from 9:45 A.M. to noon, and the second one is taking place between 1:15 P.M. and 2:30 P.M. Then on Friday, the bridge will shut down again for the final Blue Angels practice show from 12:45 P.M. to 2:40 P.M. People around the area will get to enjoy some great action from the F/A 8's as the U.S. Navy pilots do amazing things with their planes.

The Blue Angels will have two full air shows, taking place both on Saturday, August 1st and Sunday, August 2nd in the 2009 Seafair schedule. Both shows will cause the I-90 Bridge to close between the house of 12:45 P.M. and 2:40 P.M. and will provide many great vantage points where people can enjoy these superb pilots pushing their jets to the edge. The Blue Angels show is one of the most spectacular events during any Seafair weekend, and this one should be no exception, as the weather looks great, and people can enjoy a nice weekend out on the water as the jet fly overhead.

The Seafair hydroplane races will be taking place from Friday through Sunday on South Lake Washington, with the 2009 Chevrolet Cup coming to town for a great weekend of racing. The hydroplanes will be on the water starting at 8:30 A.M. on Friday and stretching to 6:00 P.M., and then will be made available to the public basically all day Saturday. The main race day is Sunday August 2nd, with live broadcasts beginning at 10:15 A.M. and races stretching through 5:00 P.M. It's going to be an exciting weekend of fun in the sun for Seattle residents and tourists, and Seafair 2009 looks to be a great event!
