2009 SEC Tournament Preview: Mississippi St Vs Tennessee
Mississippi St Attempts to Qualify for the NCAA Tourney
2009 SEC Tournament Preview - Mississippi St
Jarvis Varnado leads the Mississippi State team both offensively and defensively. State has a very balanced offensive attack with a focus on three point shooting with the SEC's number 1 defender, Varnado in the middle to help with second chance baskets. Varnado's performance against Tennessee's Wayne Chism will be a key factor in how State performs in the championship game. In the two team's previous meeting, Jarvis Varado was able to keep Wayne Chism shut-down, but it wasn't quite enough for the Bulldogs to win.
2009 SEC Tournament Preview - Tennessee
Wayne Chism scored a career high 27 points and Tyle Smith chipped in 23 in the Vols win over the Auburn Tigers on Saturday, 94-85. The Vols will be focused on guarding the three point shot against the Mississippi State guards in the second meeting of the two teams this season. In the last contest, State was able to contain Tyler Smith and Wayne Chism, but still fell 81-76. Tennessee may need a third scorer to step up in the championship game in order to have a shot at the 2009 SEC tournament title.
2009 SEC Tournament Preview - Prediction
The championship game is going to be a great one to watch. Both teams will be looking to control the transition game in this contest. If Tennessee can win the rebounding game then they will win the 2009 SEC tournament. Final score prediction:Tennessee Volunteers 86 - Mississippi State Rebels 77.
