2009 Super Bowl Commercials

Karen Barnes
What will the commercials for Super Bowl 43 be this year? Will they live up to past year's commercials?

The thing is, these 30-second commercials will cost $3 million each in US dollars. This is the first time that any commercial for the Super Bowl has cost this much. What's even crazier is some of the traditional advertisers who place commercials during the Super Bowl are buying more than one ad slot.

Commercials We Will See

Anheuser-Busch. Yep, the king of beers will return again with multiple commercials during the Super Bowl.

Pepsi-Cola. Another returning advertiser with multiple commercials throughout the Super Bowl game.

Movie Trailers. Imagine that you will see movie trailers for upcoming shows coming to a theater near you. Which movie trailers will be shown? The answer is, "Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen," "Monsters Vs Aliens," and "Star Trek." Football meets SCI-FI this year during the Super Bowl.

The "Monster vs Aliens" movie trailer will be a 3-D animated promotion with NBC, SoBe, DreamWorks Animation, and Intel. SoBe Lizards what an idea.

Hyundai. One of the very few car manufacturers who will make an appearance at the Super Bowl.

Doritos. Once again they are running a contest for their commercial spots with a $1 top prize.

Commercials We Won't See

General Motors. Imagine that, after their bailout, I would think this is for the best. However, they stated because of the economic crisis was their reasoning for not purchasing commercial time this year.

FedEx. FedEx won't be delivering a Super Bowl Commercial either this year for the same reason General Motors stated.

These companies are the short list of who's in and who's not for the 2009 Super Bowl commercials. Are you a Super Bowl commercial fan?

You can view the ads from the 2009 Super Bowl at 2009 Super Bowl Commercials: A Review (Videos Included). This article was written by a fellow Content Producer named Crutnacker. Today on a local radio station here in Wichita, Kansas, the disc jockey said he wasn't blown away by this years Super Bowl commercials, but there were a couple that he did like.
