2009 Super Bowl XLIII Commercials - Top Ted Ads

Super Bowl Adds Top $3 Million Per 30 Second Spot!

Jackson Lewis
Best Super Bowl Commercials. Earlier today, I reviewed my 'Top 5' 2009 Super Bowl commercials. USA Today's sponsored Ad Meter Focus group provided a comprehensive ranking of all 2009 Super Bowl ads this year with the results now released to the web. The focus group not only displays the rankings of the adds, but also provides a forum for the viewer to check out the ads and add their vote to the focus group! Below are the results of their 'Top Ten' Super Bowl adds with commentary. If you don't agree, go on-line and view and vote here! There were 67 total paid Super Bowl advertising spots this year costing an average of $3 million per 30 second spot!

Top TenSuper Bowl XLIII Commercials

#1 Super Bowl XLIII Commercial - Doritos - Crystal Ball

The commercial features two office workers that are using their snow globe as a crystal ball...which predicts that they will get free Doritos...then they promptly use it to destroy the vending machine! This commercial likely ran Doritos an estimated $3 million to run!

#2 Super Bowl XLIII Commercial - Budweiser - Clydesdale In Love

Budweiser's number 2 offering for the 2009 Super Bowl ads, the commercial shows to what lengths the Budweiser Clydesdale will go to due to love!!

#3 Super Bowl XLIII Commercial - Budweiser - A Clydesdale Can Fetch

Another Clydesdale-themed Super Bowl commercial from Budweiser that starts with a dog fetching....finishing up with the Clydesdale showing up the dog by fetching a tree!

#4 Super Bowl XLIII Commercial - Bridgestone - Mr. and Mrs. Potato Head Take a Drive

A really cute Super Bowl commercial showing Mr. and Mrs. Potato Head going on a wild ride in the family car...kept safe with Bridgestone tires!

#5 Super Bowl XLIII Commercial - Doritos - Free Money

Another funny advertisement from Doritos making the case that you will get free money by eating their Chips!

#6 Super Bowl XLIII Commercial - Cars.com - Boy Genius Buys a Car

A little less funny than its competitors, this Super Bowl ad makes the case that Cars.com makes car buying exponentially easier...even for people with very large egos!

#7 Super Bowl XLIII Commercial - Pedigree - Dog is a Better Pet Than an Ostrich or Rhino

This is another one of those commercials that are better the second and third time that you watch them showing the follies of pet owners who made the mistake of having a pet ostrich and rhino instead of a dog!

#8 Super Bowl XLIII Commercial - Pepsi - Mix of Forever Young, Bob Dylan

Just a cool commercial by Pepsi making the case that they are the drink of a new generation, every generation!

#9 Super Bowl XLIII Commercial - Castrol - Grease Monkeys and Castrol Edge Keep Car Running Smoothly

I was surprised this Super Bowl ad only came in at number 9! Absolutely hilarious with the 'Grease' monkeys helping out the car owner to perform automotive maintenance!

#10 Super Bowl XLIII Commercial - Bud Light - Office Meeting Goes Awry When Bean Counter Proposes No Bud Light at Meetings

This was my personal favorite of all the Super Bowl ads! One of the 'bean counters' at an office meeting proposes getting rid of Bud Light at meetings...the next image you see is the worker and his chair flying through the window of the office!

Best 3D Super Bowl XLIII Commercial - SoBe Life Water - Lizard Lake 3D

The 3D glasses you need to see the 3D action are distributed for free at SoBe displays in super markets. Pretty neat to watch with the glasses, but the ads weren't quite funny enough to crack the top 10! You will also have the opportunity to re-use your 3D glasses for a special 3D episode of NBC's hit comedy "Chuck," airing Monday, February 2, 2009 (8-9pm ET.)
