2009 Top 3 NFL Point Spread Picks: Week 13

After coming off a 4-2 overall week against the point spread in week 12, I'm back to take a look at the Week 13 NFL matchups against the point spread and pick my top 3 games. Here are last weeks NFL picks. There were 3 picks for Thanksgiving day, and 3 picks for the Sunday games. If you used the those picks along with advice from 6 Rules to Follow when Gambling on Sports, you came out a winner last week. Lets keep it going with my top 3 NFL picks for week 13.

San Francisco 49ers at
Seattle Seahawks pick em'

Analysis: This is my favorite game to pick on the NFL schedule for week 13. The 49ers have already handled Seattle this year and now appear to be playing even better than they were then. Alex Smith is starting to get comfortable passing to Vernon Davis, Michael Crabtree, and Frank Gore. Mike Singletary has started to let Smith run some spread offense like he did in college and so far it's looked good. Now that the 49ers have shown the ability to run and throw Seattle has no chance. In the easiest game of the week to pick, I like San Francisco to beat Seattle and thus cover the point spread of 0.

Pick: 49ers in a pick em' game

Philadelphia Eagles at -5.5
Atlanta Falcons

Analysis: The Falcons will be without their 2 best offensive players, quarterback Matt Ryan and probably running back Michael Turner. With both teams at full strength I think the Eagles would win be a more than a field goal. Desean Jackson will probably miss this game but McNabb should still have plenty of weapons and the Falcons are hurting more. The Eagles will beat Atlanta by a couple of scores and have no problem covering the point spread of -5.5.

Pick: Eagles -5.5

New England Patriots at -5
Miami Dolphins

Analysis: The New England Patriots got exposed in New Orleans on Monday night football. Their defense looked lost and confused. For this reason, the point spread is just 5 against a Dolphin team that just got beat by the Buffalo Bills. Take advantage of the fact that the Patriots embarrassing loss was on national television and therefore fresh in everybody's mind which has made the point spread closer than it should be. Sure the Patriots have some holes on defense, but Chad Henne and the Dolphins aren't good enough to exploit them like Drew Brees did.

Pick: Patriots - 5

So to recap my top 3 games to pick in Week 13 of the NFL against the point spread:
49ers - 0
Eagles - 5.5
Patriots - 5
