2009 Top 5 Mom and Baby Halloween Costumes

Halloween is by far the most fun holiday of the year. This is a time of year that is whimsical and stress free for us moms, unlike the looming Thanksgiving and Christmas celebrations which shortly follow.

Halloween is also a great time to bond with our children over candy, costumes, school celebrations, family photographs and visiting neighbors for treats. As moms, we can be festive, cynical and devilish in every sense.....

Some fun and contemporary ideas for moms and their little nuggets this year include:

1."Cash for Chunkers"

This mom and baby costume is very simple and could actually apply to both mom and baby. Both mom and baby would wear a small sign, like a 4x4 postage label marked "Cash for Chunkers", as a play on words to the popular federal program. For an extra chunky look, wear a couple of sweatshirts in layers.

2.iBaby

This Mom and baby costume is contemporary and fun. It involves the mom carrying baby as her accessory, like an iPod. Baby has a shirt titled iBaby. Baby comes with free apps like: crying, pooping, looking cute, tax deduction, crawling, eating cheerios, and drooling.

3.Kate Gosselin and spawn

This costume idea comes from one of this year's most tabloid notable darlings. The mom should get a wig or hairstyle that is 80's asymmetrical. She should also wear a Talbots outfit, oversized sunglasses and a scowl. The child should be dressed in a crisply pressed gymboree outfit (complete with matching hair bows and socks) and appear anxious. If Dad wants to get involved, it's pretty simple - have him wear an Ed Hardy sweatshirt stuffed with a pillow.

4.Susan Boyle and extra hair

This mom and baby costume idea is inspired by a songbird's Cinderella story from 2009 and part of her transformation. The Mom can wear a matronly outfit and the baby should be dressed in a brown fuzzy fleece jumpsuit, to represent the post makeover extra hair. For extra effect, the mom can sing Les Miserables and smile like she just sucked a lemon.

This mom and baby costume idea is a tribute to Billy Mays, the great TV pitchman. Baby and mom can dress in blue denim shirts and dark pants. The mom can proceed to pitch all the features of her Shazam Baby mega-enthusiastically to visitors and party goers.
