2009 Washingtonian May Issue: Firemen Prepare, Washington is Hot, Hot, Hot!

Covering Washington, Uncovering Obama's 2008 "I'm Too Sexy for My Shirt" Photo, Again

Lori Lane
Move over hot stuff, sizzle coming through! The best description of the Washingtonian 2009 May issue could be one for the books, or at least the magazines.

U.S. President Barack Obama will be on the cover of the May 2009 Washingtonian issue, shirtless. Obama shows off his pecs, his abs, and yes, his 2008 belly button. The photo was from, as most know, 2008. But what is the 2009 May Washingtonian issue going to offer other than Obama's swim shorts?

The Washingtonian May issue surrounds the concept of "Reasons We Love Washington" according to HuffingtonPost.com.

"28 Reasons To Love Living Here..." stands on the left of Obama (from the naked eye). This is the United States of America with 103,671,742,065,706.34375 square feet in total and 50 states to travel, fly or swim to, why only 28? Again, it's all about Washington.

The top listing of articles are Washington's Top 100 Techies, 30 Great Value Spa Treatments, Salary Update Who Makes What, and Headache-Free Home Renovations accompanied by other interesting article titles on the lower right of the May issue of the Washingtonian. Each copy costs $3.95, coming to a newsstand near you.

Reason number 2: "Our new neighbor is hot..."

After reading this I had to go outside to see if anyone moved in next door.

The anticipation is "who is that neighbor they speak of." Is Maryland or Virginia flattered? Has Washington moved next to Paris Hilton? Are the neighbors international? Would it be Obama's way of saying "thanks" to Chavez?

Until the release of this Washingtonian magazine issue, it's all hush hush like a government secret. Some believe that the Washingtonian is speaking about the icebergs up north, but others believe that the hot neighbor is located on the left.

Golden Paparazzi Shot

Paparazzi may be a pain in Madonna's saddle, but the paparazzi supplied the Obama shot that reached Huffington Post on the way to Washingtonian's May issue. Not to say that HuffingPost.com had anything to do with the photo opportunity or Washingtonian interaction. The photos of the Obama family Hawaiian vacation had been caught on camera by the paparazzi, nothing more.

Whether commander in chief or commander in briefs, is Obama too sexy for his shirt or did they pay the air-brush team overtime? Until someone creates the pec pump, air-brushing most likely rules, that is if you aren't in Hawaii. And considering Obama's work-outs and exercising, air-brushing wouldn't take that long if it were applied to begin with.

Obama could have more muscles than Jay Cutler, it wouldn't change the my position on Obama, however being fair is important. And I agree with Garrett Graff, Obama's not a bad looking guy.

Garrett Graff, editor, shared with ABC.com that it is the "golden age of Washington" and that Washington is "really hot." Garrett was reported to have added that Obama is "hot" enough for the paparazzi to take shots of him.

When it comes to the May cover, one can only wonder if Mr. Graff counted all of the votes submitted in mid-March for Obama's 2008 summer photo?

On 2 p.m. March 16th submissions were due from readers to this Washingtonian's request.

"Listen up, readers! We need your help with the cover for our May issue of The Washingtonian. The theme is "Reasons We Love Washington," so we're asking our readers to come up with a fitting concept, design, or photo to feature. Take a look above at how other city magazines have interpreted the theme. Be inspired!" -Washingtonian Magazine

Did the readers come up with this cover?

The 2009 Washingtonian magazine will mark two moments in magazine history, the first black U.S. President on the cover, without a shirt. The 2009 Washingtonian May issue will sell like hotcakes...grab one early!
