2009 Wimbledon Finals Pit Roger Federer Against Andy Roddick in Men's Final
2009 Wimbledon Women's Final is Serena Williams Against Venus Williams
Five-time Wimbledon champion Roger Federer is looking to create even more tennis history during the Wimbledon finals on Sunday, as he is looking to win a record 15th Grand Slam title. Currently he is tied with Pete Sampras with 14 total during his career, but with his Friday match victory to move into the finals, he also set the record for most times reaching a Major final during his career. Roger Federer made it look easy once again; taking out Tommy Haas in three sets in order to run his streak to 18 consecutive matches that he has won. The accomplishment was even greater, because this marks the seventh consecutive Wimbledon finals that Federer will have played in.
On the other side of the bracket, Andy Roddick beat Andy Murray in four sets in order to make it into the Wimbledon finals. The Swiss tennis star had beaten Roddick 18 out of 19 times prior to this match, and it became a big upset when Roddick found himself on the winning end of the match. Tennis players all have that one opponent that proves to be very tough, and for Roddick it has been Andy Murray. Making it into the finals, this will mark the third time in six years that Roddick has made it to the Wimbledon finals. It is pretty obvious how Roddick fared against Federer in those matches though.
The reason that the Wimbledon men's final is going to be so interesting is because it will blend the lightning quick serve of Andy Roddick against the great court intelligence of Roger Federer. Federer will come in to the match as the favorite to take home another Wimbledon title, but if Roddick has his serve working well for him on Sunday, this could be anyone's match. The 2009 Wimbledon women's final won't be any less exciting, as the William's sisters will battle it out one more time to see who the best tennis playing woman is at the 2009 Wimbledon tournament.

Post a CommentGreat reporting!
Federer is great but I'm getting tired of seeing his name in the Wimbledon win column. I'm tired of the Williams' as well. Hopefully, we'll get some really good tennis and perhaps a surprise or two...
I was hoping for Murray in the finals, as he could have provided more of a challenge for Fed. Hope Roddick will surprise me on Sunday. And go Venus!
