2009-2010 NFL Preseason Predictions

I Know Who's Going to the Show!

Chuck Dakota
Each and every year millions and millions of football fans wait for kickoff hoping their team will become a modern art masterpiece making history and going into the holiest of days, the Super Bowl! How we watch each snap with anticipation, calling plays from the couch, wishing we had a hot line to the coach so we could be the hero of the day! With every win we have a sense of relief and pride, with every loss, the pain, the sorrow and the "what if"!

As each day passes the expectation gets thicker and thicker and the more we convince ourselves this will be the year. As kick off gets closer we read more blogs, more team reports and talk it up around the water cooler! The best part of it all, it doesn't matter who you like it's football and it will always get you in a debate for the ages!

It seems as each season passes the game gets better and better. Teams shock us and of course teams disappoint us. Last year was one of the best! Who would have ever thought in a million years the Arizona Cardinals would have been in the big show lead by a QB that was coming to the end of his great career. It really was a season for the highlight real and I think you better strap in for the best yet!

2009 will be the best football ever played!

I have to admit and my wife will testify that I'm a football nut. I live for it! On G-Day Sunday (as we call it in our home) all I do is plug my arties with cholesterol, feel my blood pressure rise and think to myself how I could have done it better if I were the coach! We've all been their but that's the love the game!

Since the end of last season, I've read team reports, watched rookie reels, kept up on mini camps and I think I have the teams to watch. Last year I predicted the Cardinals and was laughed at! Maybe this year my colleagues will listen to me! After all I do have a method to my madness! Or so I think I do!

Let's start with the AFC. One team will be the Cinderella team of the year. It's a team that had more glory in the 90's then any other team in the league but lost the mojo somewhere along the way. A new head coach comes in, changes everything and just like last year a dark horse is seen charging at full speed and to be honest my friends I don't see it being stopped. That team, The Kansas City Chiefs! Why you ask? Along with the changes of the coaches, KC has a new QB in Matt Cassel. We saw what he did with New England and now that he has it all under his control it will be another Rich Gannon story. Remember what he did when the Raiders believed in him? Head coach Todd Haley came into Arrowhead with a plan and woke those players up! According to the Kansas City Star, the first thing Haley did was shed some weight, 340 pounds as a team and that will give them the much needed speed on the D side of the ball they've been lacking. Plus you can't forget about the draft picks, huge DE's that will capture the glory days of Neil Smith and Derrick Thomas.

Others to watch that will give Kansas City a run for the money, Pittsburg, Buffalo and San Diego. Those three teams have also done what they've needed to do to make sure the season doesn't end but goes long into 2010. I think you'll see the rest of the AFC play good football but it's going to be another "shocker" for those who follow the AFC and paradise for those that love Kansas City!

Onto to the NFC! I'm saddened by the Cowboys and what they've done! Why did they release TO? WHY? It didn't make any sense from the perspective of a fan. Romo and Owens were on the path to become the next Manning/Harrison connection. With Kansas City picking up the mojo in the AFC, Dallas has lost it in the NFC and anything good from the Cowboys this year will be getting to see a game in the new stadium! It's going to be a hard long road for Cowboy fans!

Two teams stand out as being NFC Champions. ONLY TWO! When you read the reports a lot of the NFC teams have stalled when making changes and are having a lot of conflict within the camps themselves. The Giants and Saints are the two that have all the cards and ready to deal some serious football. I think after seeing Manning with New York play under pressure he's done something his brother can't; perform at every level of the game and that alone will take the Giants well past the regular season. The Saints on the other hand could be the dark horse in the NFC. For the past couple of years we've seen some incredible talent be born on that team and they only get better as time passes and perhaps Father Football has blessed them to be a unit as one and if that happens, look out!

Anyway you look at it, it's going to be another great year full of surprises and teams rising to the challenge that have been dead in the water in years past. Watch and see! Those you've counted out for so long are going to rock your world and make you rethink the way football is played!

For the Super Bowl: Kansas City vs. New York!

Ok, I can hear it now, many fans are calling me nuts but remember last year? Remember what happened? Dark teams came from the depths of football hell to shock us all and it's coming again!

I would love to hear your thoughts (please be nice)! Tell me your predication and at the end of the year you can say, "Wow Chuck, you were right, maybe you are a football God". But most likely, you'll say, "Chuck, don't give up your day job"!
