Udrih is approaching his sixth year in the NBA and his second with the Sacramento Kings. Udrih will be the starter for the Kings for the 2009-2010 season. Udrih had a productive 73 games in 2008 averaging 11 points, 4.7 assists, and 3 rebounds a game. The Kings may actually be competitive this year with a much upgraded roster and several young stars who have another year of experience under their belts. Expect Udrih to have career highs in assists and points. Take Beno with one of your last picks as an alternate point guard.
#9. J.J. Redick G- Orlando Magic
This is the year for J.J. Redick to shine. 2008-2009 starting shooting guard Courtney Lee was shipped to New Jersey along with Rafer Alston in exchange for Vince Carter. The loss of Alston and Lee will open up a huge door for Redick next season. Redick may be the starter along side of Vince Carter, Dwight Howard, Rashard Lewis, and Jameer Nelson. This is Redick's year to burst onto the scene and prove that he can be a starter and was worth a first round 11th overall draft pick in 2006.
#8. Nate Robinson PG- New York Knicks
Robinson has been in the league for four years, and still gets no respect, and understandingly so coming off of the bench for one of the worst teams in the league. Robinson managed to average a career high 17.2 ppg, 4 assists, and almost 4 rebounds per game. After last year Robinson should continue to get more minutes and could start sometime this season. I do consider Robinson a sleeper in fantasy basketball, although he is known throughout the country by NBA fans.
#7. Jason Maxiell F/C- Detroit Pistons
Maxiell finds himself in a perfect position coming into his fifth year in the NBA. The Pistons most likely aren't done making deals, but as of now Maxiell will be the starter at power forward for this young talented Pistons lineup. Maxiell played only 18 minutes a game in '08-09 averaging nearly 6 points and just over 4 rebounds per game. Maxiell will put together a very nice season for the Pistons and should finally have some decent fantasy value.
#6. Mike Conley PG- Memphis Grizzlies
In his 2nd year in the NBA, Conley played in all 82 games for the Grizzlies in 2008-2009. Conley averaged 10.9 points, 4.3 assists, and 3.4 rebounds per game for the 24-58 Grizzlies. The Grizzlies now have some toys to place around Conley in Hasheem Thabeet and DeMarre Carroll who should both help defensively and down low on offense. Don't be surprised if Conley puts up top 10 point guard fantasy numbers in 2009-2010.
#5. Mario Chalmers PG- Miami Heat
Chalmers quietly had a very respectable rookie season with 10 points a game and 4.9 assists per game. Chalmers made an appearance in every single game with the heat and shot 36.7% from three point range (better than Dwayne Wade, Kobe Bryant, and Chris Paul). Expect Chalmers to explode on the scene in his sophomore season and have an unexpected fantasy season in where he could work his way in the top 25 in the league. Chalmers won't go until very late in most fantasy drafts. If you have your starting lineup set and Chalmers is on the board, take him quickly.
#4. JaVale McGee PF/C- Washington Wizards
Who is JaVale McGee? Unless you are a Wizards fan you most likely don't know the answer to that question. McGee is a 2nd year player out of Nevada. McGee is a 7 footer who can play the 4 and 5 spot, and should be a very valuable 6th man for the Wizards this season. McGee plays well every time he hits the floor, which wasn't very often as he played only 15 minutes a game in 2008-2009. In the last game of last season, McGee started and went 7-11 with 17 points and 4 blocked shots. Pick up McGee for a backup at center.
#3. Roy Hibbert C- Indiana Pacers
Hibbert fits the description of an NBA sleeper. He averaged only 14 minutes a game while sharing time at center off of the bench in 2008. Hibbert averaged 7 points and 3.5 rebounds a game for the Pacers. Hibbert should be the starting center in '09 and could put up some solid numbers. When you need an extra center and are coming down to the end of your draft, take Hibbert, you won't be disappointed.
#2. Ramon Sessions G- Milwaukee Bucks
Sessions is developing into a potential all-star quality guard and quickly. Although he is surrounded by a poor lineup in Milwaukee, Sessions should continue to have improved numbers in 2009-2010. In 27 minutes a game Sessions averaged over 12 points and 5.7 assists per game. Sessions looks like a future all star, but he might need a new lineup to get there. Regardless, Sessions will be a good 2nd guard for your fantasy team this season.
#1. Jason Thompson F-Sacremento Kings
Jason Thompson will go from being an unknown to one of the top 10 power forwards in the league this season. Thompson is entering his Sophomore season in the NBA and is much deserved of this #1 fantasy sleeper title. Thompson is a rare talent and at 6'11 will start at power forward for the Kings in '09-'10. in 28 minutes a game Thompson averaged 11 points and 7.4 rebounds per game. Thompson will average a double double this season and is a drafting must at the end of your fantasy draft. Don't leave Thompson off of your team this season.
