Jeremy Clarkson, a Top Gear presenter, preaches that you can't be a petrol head until you've owned an Alfa Romeo. He couldn't be more right. The Giulia is drop-dead gorgeous! OK, I'm going to put a little picture of it in here, so get good and ready. Oh, and make sure you put a big bowl under your face because you will salivate over anything under you. Here it is.
The Giulia will be a replacement for the 159 sedan. Unfortunately, because this is still just in the makings, there are very little specs or figures. Not much in terms of photos. We have digital renderings, and that's all for right now. There are no interior photos yet, but I can pretty much guarantee it will look great.
Because there isn't much information about it floating around, I don't yet know what kind of power train it will have, but I hope and pray it will be a rear-wheel drive. I know in the past front-wheel drive Alfas were pretty quick, but only if you eat, breathe and live car control. There were very tricky to control, and if you were going fast, around a corner, you would most certainly crash. Another thing I'm hoping is, if it will be front-wheel drive, that Alfa doesn't go all-out mad and puts a 350 horsepower engine in it.
Since, as I've said already, there isn't much information about it, let's focus on whether anyone would want, or not want to buy one. Well, looks say a lot about it, and judging by the looks, I would pay big money for it. Sort of BMW M5 money. It would be nice if the Alfa Romeo had the power to compete against the M5 because then, BMW would see a massive sales drop, because even executives, who in the past bought nothing but M5's would look at the Giulia and say "yes, I want one of these." It just has the class!
One slight worry I have is the name - Giulia. It sounds like a name someone with a bad taste would give to their pet. It doesn't sound as stylish as the Brera, or even the 8C Competizione! Maybe it will gain a good ring to it, but I'm not sure about it right now. I really hate to bring up anything bad about any Alfa Romeo, apart from the fact that they always break down, but I'm genuinely worried about the name.
My only hope, is that the Giulia will be a good car. I hope it will be user friendly, and drivable. For the last eternity, Alfa Romeo made brilliant looking cars, just beautiful, but they never seemed to work. They broke down a lot, or were not as good to drive as the competition.
