2010 Buick LaCrosse

A Buick for the 21st Century!

First thing that pops into my mind when I think of Buick is an old couple paddling around in the comfort of the car of their youth. And when I think of the word "LaCrosse," I usually end up imagining a bunch of kids running around with sticks. I never did get the point of the sport; if you can call it a sport. However, the second generation LaCrosse is not as boring as I actually thought it would be.

Probably the single greatest thing about this car is it was designed by young people. Buick just gave them their pens and paper, and told them to let their imaginations soar. These young designers are now proud of what the LaCrosse has become - the first cool Buick.

On the inside, the Buick is made for comfort, luxury, and entertainment. The rear seats come with optional TV screens with DVD players, the sat-nav is touch screen, and if you have a bit more money to spend, a back-lit interior that bathes you in nice, warm blue color.

This really is panning out to be something that modern people would buy. It's like Buick found the time machine that took them out of the 1930's and into now. And for my money, I wouldn't buy the BMW that I was thinking of buying. Neither would I buy the Mercedes that I always wanted. The Germans have become a bit overrated, and their build-quality has dumbed down, but the prices haven't dropped, they've actually shot up like they're on steroids.

The LaCrosse, for a luxury sedan, is very affordable. Starting at about $27,000, it's, dare I say it, cheap! You've got leather all around, wood, a gorgeous exterior, a roomy interior, and some modern toys. I'd say too modern for the brand since they've always stuck around in the pre-World War II era.

When I saw the 2010 Ford Taurus, I fell in love. However, it looks like when Ford comes up with something decent, GM just blows it out of this world. Let's take it from history: when Ford gave us the Mustang, Chevrolet gave us the Camaro. I'm talking about the late 1960's. Years past, and the pony car died. Then, Ford decided to revive it in 2005. However, it was GM that gave us the real star of pony cars - the 2010 Camaro. And now, with the battle of mid-sized sedans, Ford gave us the Fusion - a great car. But it was blown away by the Buick LaCrosse.

I've been into cars for a long time now. It started as a little kid when I started drawing cars for fun. My cars, though, did not have guns and fins on them, well, most of them didn't, to say the least. I fo...  View profile
