2010 Christmas at the Indianapolis Zoo
This Indy Tradition Continues Its Annual Holiday Light Spectacular
Indianapolis, IN 46222-0309
United States of America
The light displays cover the many acres of the zoo grounds. Thousands of lights adorn the trees and buildings. Everywhere you look the multi colored lights greet your vision with dazzling effect. The winding paths lined with Christmas lights give the visitor a unique three dimensional perspective: Near and far, in every direction you see beautiful lights, lights, and more lights. Check out the Macy's All A-Glow light show. It is truly an impressive display.
In keeping with the Christmas at the Indianapolis Zoo theme, visitors will be treated to unique animal light displays. Scattered amongst the gorgeous strings of lights in the trees and bushes are whimsical light characterizations of different animals. You will find flamingos, dolphins, tigers, and even a walrus figure outlined in lights.
Santa's Village, presented by Community Health Network, offers an enclosed heated structure filled with activities for kids of all ages. Get your picture taken with Santa. Mrs. Claus is there to help you decorate your own personal Christmas cookie. And if you have not yet penned your letter to Santa this year you are in luck. In Santa's Village paper and pencils are available to complete that task.
Located at one of the two campfires on the grounds visitors are treated to the Common Stock Carolers, a delightful couple decked out in vintage clothing and wooden shoes. Traditional carols and requests are shared. In addition to the caroling at the campfire, local school choirs will be performing holiday favorites at the Entry Plaza.
Don't miss the reindeer up close and personal display in the Winter Wonderland inside the White River Gardens. Sponsored by Wells Fargo Advisors, the building is filled with a two story tall Christmas Tree in the Rotunda.
