Orange Bowl 2010

The Iowa Hawkeyes and Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets were two surprise BCS contenders this year with GTech winning the ACC and Iowa falling short in their bid to make the national title game.

An injury to QB Ricky Stanzi caused the Hawkeyes' luck to run out but they still had a very good season and now find themselves in their second BCS bowl game under Kirk Ferentz against the Yellow Jackets.
The first time didn't go so well as Iowa was pummeled by USC but this time around could be different. This is a tough game to pick among the college bowls because it has the potential to be a close, hard-fought classic.

2010 College Football Bowl Picks: Iowa vs. Georgia Tech

The 2010 Orange Bowl will be played on January 5th, 2010 between Georgia Tech and Iowa.

When Georgia Tech has the ball, their triple option will give Iowa a look it hasn't seen all year, featuring QB Josh Nesbitt and running back Jonathan Dwyer in a dynamic attack.

Iowa has the horses to fight back against the triple option however with Pat Angerer the classic tough run-stuffing Iowa linebacker and Adrian Clayborn leading the way as an athletic defensive tackle on the edge. The Iowa secondary is disciplined and great against the run as well.

GTech wil get their points in the 2010 Orange Bowl but Iowa is too strong at the point of attack and too tough not to slow down the triple option.

The real tough part when making a pick in this exciting college football bowl matchup is deciding whether or not Iowa can score enough points on offense.

Georgia Tech has an athletic defense and great pass rushers but Iowa has a solid offensive line. Iowa QB Ricky Stanzi is expected to be back and his receiving corps is solid.

In the end, Iowa should be able to control the clock with its run game and short passes and stop GTech just enough to get the win.
