2010 College World Series Schedule and Brackets Set

Ryan Christopher DeVault
We now have the official 2010 College World Series schedule and brackets. The 2010 College World Series schedule starts with bracket one games on Saturday, June 19, with bracket two games getting under way on Sunday, June 20. There are eight teams that qualified for the 2010 College World Series, and they are split up into two groups of four that will begin play next weekend. In bracket one are TCU, Florida State, Florida, and UCLA, and their first two games will be on Saturday. The other bracket, where games will get started on Sunday, consists of Oklahoma, South Carolina, Arizona State, and Clemson. Oklahoma was the eighth team to qualify, knocking off Virginia late Monday.

The 2010 College World Series schedule will work with two double-elimination brackets progressing at the same time. Every team has to lose two games to be out of the tournament, so it gives a team that has a bad opening game the chance to come back in the loser's bracket of the tournament. Games in the 2010 College World Series will continue every day in the next week until we have just two teams remaining. Those two teams will play in a best-of-three Championship Series that begins on Monday, June 28. All of the games at the 2010 College World Series will be played in Omaha on the same field, so it is going to provide a bit of excitement in the region over the next 12 days.

Several of the top seeded schools have already been eliminated from the 2010 NCAA Baseball Tournament, including No. 2 Texas, No. 4 Coastal Carolina, No. 5 Virginia, and No. 7 Louisville. In fact, just three of the top eight seeded teams (Arizona State, Florida, and UCLA) made it to the 2010 College World Series. Due to the way that the seeding plays out, though, Florida and UCLA have to play on the first day of the College World Series, setting up what is sure to be the game of the weekend out of the four scheduled games. The 2010 College World Series schedule gets started on Saturday, June 19, at 11 a.m. PST (2 p.m. EST), with TCU taking on Florida State. The game will be shown on ESPN, and all of the remaining 2010 College World Series games will also be on ESPN or ESPN2.
