Earth Day is April 22 and you still have time to prepare for a fun tribute to the environment in 2010. If you are a teen or tween, you may be thinking about dressing up in a costume or outfit in honor of Planet Earth. Here are some last-minute costume ideas.

Earth Day has become more and more popular and important since the very first Earth Day back in 1970. According to Wikipedia, the first formal Earth Day celebration was started by a group of University of Pennsylvania students.

There are many things you can do to celebrate Earth Day. Of course you can recycle more than you normally do and you can spread the word about recycling. You can visit kaboose.com for some craft ideas to keep your children or school-age students busy. If you are a logger, we would all greatly appreciate it if you would please refrain from chopping down a tree on Earth Day 2010.

What if you are a teen or tween and are invited to a last-minute Earth Day party or Halloween party where the theme is Earth Day, the environment or recycling? Well, you need to be ready for this kind of event because there is always a time and place for a party to celebrate the environment and Earth Day.

Here are some costumes and outfit ideas for 2010 Earth Day or even Halloween if there is an ecological or environmental theme and you need to dress up in something completely cool and fun. Saving the environment is a serious thing, of course, but it can also be lots of fun.

First, many teens or tweens like to dress up as a tree, especially because trees are so beautiful and precious and fun to look at. Head on over to wikiHow.com for instructions on how to make a fun tree costume.

If you want a super simple tree costume and you are a fan of Stanford University, you could always buy a Stanford Cardinal t-shirt or sweatshirt that has the Stanford Tree on the front or back. That way your costume could also keep you warm. You can buy them at store.cstv.com.

Second, another last minute costume idea for teens and tweens in 2010 is that of Mother Earth. Head on over to eHow.com for a cool guide to making a Mother Earth costume. This one takes a bit of effort so you may need two or three people. You can also simply buy a Mother Earth costume at amazon.com which can be used for Earth Day or Halloween.

Third, if you want some really wacky and crazy recycling or environmental costume ideas, visit the Web site of oureverydayearth.com for some really hilarious Green Halloween costumes. These outfits and costumes have a little cool factor and a lot of recycling factor because most, if not all, of the costume material came from recycled items.

These are just a few ideas for last-minute costumes or outfits for Earth Day 2010. Of course you can also use these costumes for Halloween 2010. Try and remember that it is best to relay the importance of recycling and the environment to teens and tweens as early and as often as possible because they are the future of the planet.
