2010 Get '˜em or Don't Sweat '˜em Week 1: WRs and TEs

Ryan Lester
There were some unusual heroes on Sunday. There always are. Let's take a look at them and see if they are worthy of your fantasy rosters.

WRs
Davone Bess, Miami Dolphins
Bess is what he is. He had seven targets and caught six passes for 51 yards. He can be used in PPR leagues, but isn't much use in standard formats.
Ruling: Get 'em (PPR) and Don't Sweat 'em (non-PPR)

Roscoe Parrish, Buffalo Bills
Nice to see him catch a 31-yard TD, but he had just one other catch for four yards. Plus, he only had three targets.
Ruling: Don't Sweat 'em.

Nate Washington, Tennessee Titans
Washington is the Titans' deep threat and led the team with 88 yards, 56 on a VY TD pass, but only had four targets. He will be inconsistent this year.
Ruling: Don't Sweat 'em.

Jordan Shipley, Cincinnati Bengals
Shipley caught five passes (seven targets) for 82 yards, but was more active because of the big lead New England built. He's worth adding in deeper leagues, but I'm not sure there will be much week to week with Ocho and T.O. commanding so many looks.
Ruling: Don't Sweat 'em.
.
Michael Spurlock, Tampa Bay Buccaneers
Spurlock had two catches for 49 yards, including a game-winning 33-yard TD grab, but he shouldn't be on your radar yet.
Ruling: Don't Sweat 'em

Mike Thomas, Jacksonville Jaguars
Thomas caught six passes (seven targets) for 89 yards. Mike Sims-Walker picked up where he left off at the end of last year. Non-existant.
Ruling: Get 'em.

Brandon Lloyd, Denver Broncos - Most everybody figured Jabar Gaffney and Eddie Royal would be the lead WRs for the Broncos. Gaffney scored a TD and Royal had eight catches for 98 yards. Despite Lloyd's five catches for 117 yards, I'm not buying him as a legitimate fantasy WR option.
Ruling: Don't Sweat 'em.

Mark Clayton, St. Louis Rams
I pondered whether his move to the Rams would help his fantasy value. I thought it would, but I'm surprised it happened so soon. He had ten catches (16 targets) for 116 yards.
Ruling: Get 'em.

TEs
Bo Scaife, Tennessee Titans
Scaife hadthree catches for 37 yards and a score. He only had three targets and Tennessee is a run-first team. Don't worry about Scaife until bye weeks.
Ruling: Don't Sweat 'em.

Jermaine Gresham, Cincinnati Bengals
Gresham showed poise in catching six passes for 25 yards and a score. He's a huge target for Palmer, and was on his radar with 10 targets. Gresham will be inconsistent as you'd expect from a rookie TE, but he's a keeper.
Ruling: Get 'em.

Tony Scheffler, Detriot Lions
Scheffler caught six passes (seven targets) for 43 yards. Detroit doesn't have many options in the passing game so Scheffler is a decent add in PPR leagues. I don't trust him in standard leagues just yet.
Ruling: Get 'em (PPR) and Don't Sweat 'em (non-PPR)

Evan Moore, Cleveland Browns
Moore caught three passes (five targets) for 87 yards. I'd keep an eye on him, but not add him yet.
Ruling: Don't Sweat 'em.

Marcedes Lewis, Jacksonville Jaguars
He was a borderline TE2 before he hauled in a pair of TD catches.
Ruling: Get 'em.
