Have a favorite bestselling author? Chances are, that author will be adding to the new fall books being released in the coming weeks.

James Patterson offers two new thrillers-Don't Blink on September 27, and a new Alex Cross novel, Cross Fire on November 15. John Grisham releases another legal thriller, The Confession, on October 26. Lee Child's Worth Dying For adds to his series featuring former Army cop Jack Reacher on October 19. And Patricia Cornwell's Port Mortuary, her eighteenth crime novel featuring Kay Scarpetta, is available November 30.

In romance fiction, the fourth novel of Nora Roberts' Bride Quartet, Happy Ever After, comes out November 2, and on September 14, a young woman confronts her mysterious past in Nicholas Sparks' newest romance Safe Haven.

Notable in the bestsellers category are Stephen King's new collection of novellas, Full Dark, No Stars, released November 9, and Janet Evanovich's Wicked Appetite available September 14, the first title in a new series featuring Diesel, a character from her bestselling Stephanie Plum novels.

But the best new fall books are not just commercial blockbusters and series installments.

Receiving positive reviews is Paul Murray's comic novel Skippy Dies. The novel, just published on August 31, is lengthy at 672 pages, but worth it according to early reviews from The New York Times, Entertainment Weekly, and Washington Post Book World. Winner of Amazon's Best Books of the Month for September 2010, the novel begins with the title character, Skippy, who dies in a doughnut-eating contest with his prep-school friend. The large and eccentric cast of the novel then spend the remainder of the 600-plus pages dealing with the challenges of adolescent life and coming to terms with what is known as the Skippy Doughnut Tragedy.

New fiction selections from well-known authors are also on the must-read list of new fall books. On September 28, Book One in Ken Follett's new The Century Trilogy, Fall of Giants releases. Humorist David Sedaris comes out with Squirrel Seeks Chipmunk: A Modest Bestiary, a collection of animal tales (illustrated by Ian Falconer of the popular children's Olivia books), on September 28. And Water for Elephants author Sara Gruen also comes out with an animal story, Ape House, about apes who use sign language, on September 7.

With the addition of non-fiction releases like the long-awaited Keith Richards biography Life on October 26, Bill Bryson's At Home: A Short History of Private Life on October 5, and plenty of new political works from George W. Bush, Bill O'Reilly, and Sarah Palin, readers will have plenty of new fall books to keep them reading at least through the end of the year.
