The Eastham Windmill Weekend 2010, has taken for its theme "Celebrating Eastham's History and Natural Beauty" and there is plenty of both to share with visitors from around the New England area and beyond. The weekend starts with a chicken and fish fry at the Eastham Elks Lodge. While you are enjoying your meal there will be musical entertainment featuring Big Band music. Later on all are welcomed to a home grown talent show. It's a fun and relaxed evening for all ages. Saturday's schedule includes lots of entertainment on Windmill Green, a Craft Show, a vehicle show, square dancing, games for the kids, a cookout and everyone's favorite the Sand Art Contest. If you don't want to travel quite so far down the arm of Cape Cod but still are looking for that special fun fall festival on Cape Cod in 2010, then set aside Columbus Day Weekend, October 9-11 for the Yarmouth Seaside Festival.. This is another well traveled event which this year will celebrate its 32nd incarnation. The cool thing about the Yarmouth Seaside Festival is that it makes the best of its surroundings but doesn't forget that it's October. The result is a wonderful blend of environmental and time sensitive activities. Saturday and Sunday you can get your fill of kids rides and games along with a chance to browse a crafts display. The downtown area is reserved for pedestrians and the good things that await them there. Expect lots of people to join you in a celebration that has been held for 10 years and features live music, a variety of food favorites, games, demonstrations, arts and crafts and a specially planned and free children's area with child appropriate activities and events. If you want to move out of the downtown area you will find activities abound in more peaceful village venues. You and your family can enjoy birding or beach-combing. There is a fun run for kids and a 5k road race for adults. I love the Cape in summer but I could really get into this whole fall festival thing.
