Knits, Camouflage and White Palettes Are Recreated for Upcoming Seasons

Fall and winter trends are re-creating old school knits, camouflage and white colored apparel to take on entirely different looks. Items such as the sweater-your-grandma-knit and military camouflage are no longer drab or boring. Luxurious materials such as mohair, alpaca and leathers are combined to update styles and to bring out an appeal many can enjoy. Though some of the styles aren't exactly what you'd wear for everyday activities the selections spin-off enough ideas to create runway fashion for the streets. If you've never liked regular camo or white clothing this may just be the season to change your mind.

Novelty Knits

Cardigans. Twinsets. Sweaters. These are just some of the clothing items that come to mind when thinking about knits but this Fall and Winter season knit goods are all over the place. Knits are being transformed with luxurious blends such as cashmere and alpaca in designer labels to create ultra chic and bold styles. Blazers are available with knit sleeves while slim fitting knit pants in stripes and solids are showing up on the runways by designers such as United Colors of Benetton and Chloe. But, you don't care for cable knit sweaters? What about cable knit sleeves? That's right; knitted sleeves graced the runways alongside undergarments like NIna Ricci's Ricci's mohair enriched corset.

Go Army

Camo has been given a face lift and for those who love the neutral green, tan, black and brown colors now is the time to be creative. Traditional camouflage can be left on the battlefield and replaced by army green solids that have been embellished with lace or prints. Army green canvas was the chosen color and material for Reed Krakoff's mid calf boot but it's far from being your average military inspired accessory. The additions of alligator leather and a high heel softened up the camo combinations but created a boot that could be worn with jeans or leggings, also. Jackets were also revved up with combinations of tweed and leather sleeves.

Winter Wonderland

White, cream and silver created several stylish piece for runway trends. Apparel such as skirts and sweaters were donned in rich materials such as hand knitted merino wool and mohair. Accessories and clothing designers such as Azzaro, Jay Ahr and Marlene Birger pulled out all the stops to take the winter whites up another level. Their creations were adorned with several types of embellishments but Ahr's duck feather dress not only used the winter white palette but included beadwork and sequins to bring the look together.
