2010 Fantasy Football Top 10 Fantasy Tight Ends
The Best Tight Ends to Focus on to Help You Win Your Fantasy Football League
Here are ten tight ends that might help you win your fantasy football league if you take an early chance on them.
1. Dallas Clark - Dallas Clark was a monster in 2009. The best wide receivers in the league shoot for 100 receptions but that is the number Clark hit, making him fantasy football's most valuable tight end in 2009. He also hit 1,106 yards and 10 touchdowns on the year. Those are better numbers than Randy Moss finished with. Dallas Clark is Peyton Manning's favorite target and is the best tight end on the board in 2010.
2. Antonio Gates - Antonio Gates was the top tight end in the league, along with Tony Gonzalez, and remains one of the top two at the age of 30. In 2009, Gates actually improved on his numbers with 79 receptions, 1,157 yards and eight touchdowns. He should start off 2010 strong since wide receiver Vincent Jackson is suspended for the first four games. The Chargers will be relying on rookie Ryan Matthews to pound out the yards and take over LaDanian Tomlinson's old role but expect Gates to be one of the preeminent tight ends in 2010 once again.
3. Jason Witten - Jason Witten remains one of the toughest tight ends in the game and, as Tony Romo's favorite target, will continue to get his fair share of targets. In the last three seasons, he has put up wide receiver like numbers. He surpassed 80 receptions all three years and broke 1,000 yards twice. His touchdown numbers in 2009 had to be disappointing for fantasy football owners with only two but it was only three years ago that Witten scored seven touchdowns. The yardage and targets alone make Witten someone to target on draft day.
4. JerMichael Finley - JerMichael Finley gave Aaron Rodgers the tight end target he needed to break through as an elite fantasy football quarterback. The tight end finished his second season with 55 receptions for 676 yards and five touchdowns. What makes him rank so high is the promise the 23-year old showed in 2009. In the final seven games of 2009, Finley recorded 38 receptions for 416 yards and four touchdowns. It was enough to make him the starter coming into 2010 and he looks to continue his success in his third year at Green Bay.
5. Brent Celek - The success of Brent Celek completely depends on the success of new Eagles quarterback Kevin Kolb. At 25-years old, Celek has a promising career ahead of him after breaking out in the 2009 season when he replaced mainstay L.J. Smith in the lineup. Celek finished 2009 with 76 receptions for 971 yards and eight touchdowns, making him a fantasy football star. He won't take any fantasy football owner by surprise this year and will easily be one of the first six tight ends chosen on draft day.
6. Vernon Davis
7. Owen Daniels
8. Tony Gonzalez
9. Zach Miller
10. Chris Cooley

Post a CommentBrent Celek will be fine. I saw Kolb's one game as a starter & he was awesome. They wouldn't have traded McNabb if Kolb didn't have the goods. Good list.
