2010 GDC in San Fran Brings Much Interest to Many New Exciting Products

A Look at the Latest Gaming Technology at This Years Game Developers Conference in San Francisco

Zachary Hickman
The Game Developers Conference, or the GDC, is one of the largest gaming-related expos that occurs. This year at 2010 GDC, many new exciting technologies are being shown off to a very large audience. Here are a few of the most anticipated gaming technologies:

God of War III

Sony is appearing at 2010 GDC with an interesting media presentation of God of War III, one of their most successful titles. Those who attend this presentation will have a chance to hands-on test the demo of this highly anticipated title, as well as pose on the cover of the game and find out more about this game. Sony also hints at bringing a PlayStation Portable (PSP) to the event as well, leading many to believe that a God of War III PSP port may be in the works.

EA Sports Wii Technology

EA Sports revealed an exciting new lineup of health- and fitness-related technologies. Arm and leg straps were displayed, which have built-in motion sensors for an added level of accuracy and believability while playing EA Sports games. A heart rate monitor was also introduced, which finds the heart rate of the player to better assist their workout on the Wii. EA calls this movement "EA Sport Active 2.0," which is part of a continuing effort to make gamers more active. Early on, EA sports seems to be taking a large and well deserved seat under the 2010 GDC spotlight.

Street Fighter IV for Apple's iPhone

Finally, the last anticipated release was Street Fighter IV for the Apple iPhone. Many were skeptical about the legitimacy of this release, since the sometimes frustrating touch controls on the iPhone can be very difficult to get used to, especially since the Street Fighter series is known for its button-mashing action. At the "Fight Club" station at 2010 GDC, the application (or, "App") was officially released. iPhone gamers were able to download and test the release. Many say it is unusually, but positively, intuitive and decent. With 8 playable characters, many stages, and tons of action, this is another release that took over the 2010 GDC early on.
