2010 Golden Globes Highlight Best Performances, Movies

Drew Bush
The 67th Annual Golden Globes were full of surprises tonight. As the camera panned over the audience, some very familiar faces could be seen. Stars such as Sigourney Weaver, Kate Winslet, Leonardo DiCaprio, Sandra Bullock, Meryl Streep, and Tom Hanks were present at the star studded event. The awards show was hosted by comedian Ricky Gervais.

I enjoyed watching the Golden Globes this year. It had a great atmosphere to it and there were some great achievements last year that were rewarded during the show. It was a big night for many well known actors and actresses (Kevin Bacon, Sandra Bullock, Alec Baldwin and Robert Downey Jr. to name a few). The show appeared to go smoothly as there were no outrageous incidents of any kind. It was a night for excitement and jubilee as the actors and directors went up to receive their awards.

The apparel worn by the stars was rather impressive this year. I was surprised by the number of people that wore rather conservative clothing. The choice color for the evening was black, but a few people did stray away from the norm (yes Sigourney Weaver, I am talking about you). Sigourney Weaver chose to wear a bright green dress for the Golden Globes this year. I would have preferred to see her in something a little different, say, a black or red dress perhaps. There were some women who wore some really beautiful dresses to the event. One of those women was Sandra Bullock. She wore a beautiful flowing purple dress. It really brought out her inner and outer beauty. Helen Mirren, who starred in The Queen (2006), was another stunner as she wore a beautiful sparkling black dress. Unfortunately, not all of the women wore dresses that suited them. For instance, Chloe Sevigny wore a white dress that appeared to have a bunch of appendages stuck to it. Oh yes, and when she got to the stage it appeared she almost got her dress ripped ( I wonder why). Halle Berry was another actress who picked the wrong dress choice. The Golden Globes is supposed to be a formal event, yet she wore a dress that had the entire front side exposed. There is nothing wrong with showing a little skin, but she may have shown a little too much.

Overall, I was very happy with the results of the Golden Globes. I was happy to see Sandra Bullock walk away with a Golden Globe this year for her amazing performance in The Blind Side. I was also happy to see Drew Barrymore, Robert Downey Jr., and Kevin Bacon walk away with awards. Now that the Golden Globes are over, keep an eye out for the nominations that come out for the Oscars in February (for more information on the Oscars, click here).
