2010 Grammy Nominations Concert Shows a Touch of Class

LL Cool J masterfully ignited the 2010 Grammy Nomination Concert which aired on CBS, December 2, in prime time. Goodbye and good riddance to early-morning wake-up calls and spokespersons droning on about the most thrilling news of the year. This is the second try at turning the nomination process into a fun event for everyone at a time slot that is more musician-friendly.

The concert featured a cabaret atmosphere with the impeccably polished LL Cool J as master of ceremonies. The segue into the performances by the Black Eye Peas's I Gotta A Feeling was flawless. The backstage crew, celebrities and audience joined in to tear down the house. The Black Eyed Peas invited viewers to upload a 20-second lip dub of their favorite line of I Gotta A Feeling on the CBS.com Grammy Specials upload site. Some lucky fans' entries will get a spot on the January 31 Grammy Awards Show.

This years nominees were not all that surprising, Beyonce garnered 10 nominations, Taylor Swift handily won 8 nominations and Lady Ga Ga deservedly received 5 nods. Black Eye Peas, Maxwell and Kanye West received six nominations. In the Best New Artist category, Zac Brown, Ken Hilson, MGMT, Silversun Pickups, and the Ting Tings are in the running for the Grammy.

I have to admit, I am a fan of LL Cool J since way back. I also enjoy Lady Gaga for her visual artistic talent. I like Fergie, too. And Taylor Swift is one of the most amazing young ladies ever to hit the stage.

Was someone else performing for Fergie during the Grammy Nominations concert last night? It did not look like her at all!
