With the holidays coming soon, there are many events in San Francisco that are sure to draw attention and catch the eye of many tourists. Although there may be no snow to welcome winter, there is enough joy and holiday cheer to spread around. Here are a few of the events going on in the Bay Area that you will want to check out.

San Francisco Holiday Event #1: Thanksgiving Day Block Party
The Thanksgiving Day Block Party takes place on November 25, 2010, at promptly 9:00 a.m. This is a nonprofit event that takes place in Boeddeker Park at 240 Eddy Street. If you're looking for a way to give back this Thanksgiving, this may be the perfect event for you. They have set goals to deliver 5,000 hot meals to homes, serve 300 hot meals, deliver 500 grocery bags, and pass out 500 care packages. This spectacular event can't take place without the help of excellent volunteers.

San Francisco Holiday Event #2: Thanksgiving Around the World
Thanksgiving Around the World is held November 17, 2010, at 6:30 p.m. La Cocina on Folsom Street and several chefs get together to create Thanksgiving meals celebrated by the many cultures in San Francisco. This year, turkey with mole will be served alongside West African and Asian interpretations of Thanksgiving dishes. It is sure to be a delight for your taste buds as you get ready for your own Thanksgiving meal the week after.

San Francisco Holiday Event #3: Annual Tree Lighting Ceremony
The 39th annual tree lighting in San Francisco takes place in Ghirardelli Square on Friday, November 26, 2010, at 5:30 p.m. The 50-foot tree is decorated with lights, red ribbons, ornaments, and oversized Ghirardelli bars. Carolers, Santa Claus, and even Ghirardelli hot chocolate will ring in the holiday season at this spectacular event. Events begin at noon with musical performances, puppet shows, and stilt walkers, and ends with the lighting of the tree at 5:30 pm.

San Francisco Holiday Event #4: Holiday Festival of Lights
The Holiday Festival of Lights occurs at the famous Fisherman's Wharf from November 26 through December 31. The holidays truly resound at Fisherman's Wharf with all the buildings outlined in lights, the inner lagoons, and outer lagoons draped in decorations. For the occasion, Anchorage Shopping Center, the Cannery, Ghirardelli Square, and Pier 39 have several special shopping sales and Christmas decorations. There is also a Christmas tree that marks the entrance to the Wharf and the holiday experience.

San Francisco Holiday Event #5: Crab Season
Not only is November the start of traditional holidays like Thanksgiving and Christmas, it marks the beginning of crab season that extends through June. If you are in San Francisco during November through June, make sure to check out the local restaurants at Pier 39 and crab markets in the city. You will be able to enjoy the best crab you've ever tasted.
