2010 Lotus Evora Car Review

Possibly the Most Practical Supercar!

Serge Pupko
While the Lotus Elise and Exile were a huge success in the Lotus history, Lotus were developing something that would combine a luxury coupe with super car performance! The second most surprising thing is, behind the body which certainly looks like a super car, there is four seats, and a boot big enough for more than just a golf club.

The most surprising thing is that it's a comfortable car, but can take corners like nothing else that was ever conceived! It's bigger than the Exige, but it's still light enough to handle like an Exige. That's a killer combination. Lotus haven't been building cars that can outrun Lamborghinis, but they have traded speed for cornering, and that gives them a fighting chance.

Let's talk about the engine. It's lifted straight out of a Toyota sedan! It's a 3.5L V6 producing 280 break horsepower. So, we can all assume that it's not the fastest supercar ever produced. But, when it comes to taking corners, it does the job better than anything out there.

Another surprise factor is what happens when you run off the road, and have to spend some time in the grass. If you're in a ferrari or a Lamborghini, it would kill you. The Evora, however, absorbs the knocks, and not your spine, as demonstrated by Jeremy Clarkson of Top Gear in Season 13. Everyone will tell you that if you want to corner, you need to stiffen up the ride and harden the suspension. And it's true; most supercars are so uncomfortable because they need the handling so that they are manageable on the road. The Evora, well for its comfort level, it's got to be witchcraft!

There's another thing that every automotive enthusiast will be looking forward to - the modification. There is room in the engine bay for a supercharger! That means, there is a potential for up to 400 horsepower in the near future! At that point, there will be no point in buying a Lamborghini or a Ferrari because the Evora, currently sells for about 45,000 Euros. That's just over $63,500. For what it offers, it's the bargain of a lifetime, really. And when the supercharged version arrives, it will probably cost under $80,000. And then, there will really be no point in buying anything else in the supercar market.

I personally can't wait for the SC version. For what it offers, it's possibly the best car money could buy, but when the SC arrives, it'll be the ultimate! For a car with a four seats, a trunk, and a supercharged engine producing up to 400 BHP, there's the Evora is in a class of its own.

I've been into cars for a long time now. It started as a little kid when I started drawing cars for fun. My cars, though, did not have guns and fins on them, well, most of them didn't, to say the least. I fo...  View profile
