2010 Major League Baseball All Star Roster Predictions and Picks

Chris Houston
It's time for my 2010 Major League Baseball All Star roster predictions and picks. I know we aren't that close to the halfway point of the season. But who would make the cut if the teams were selected today? Who should make the 2010 Major League Baseball All Star team?

Let's start with my 2010 Major League Baseball All Star roster predictions for the National League.
My catcher for the 2010 National League All Star roster would be from the New York Mets. Rod Barajas has 11 homeruns and a healthy batting average near .270 so far. He has been a rock for the Mets. Brian McCann(Braves) or Miguel Olivo would be backup.

How about first base for the National League? Albert Pujols is a no-brainer for the starter. Then it gets a bit tricky picking out another first baseman for the National League All Star roster. Adrian Gonzalez(Padres), Joey Votto(Reds) and James Loney(Dodgers) are all having good years. My guess is Ryan Howard(Phillies) or Adam Dunn(Washington) will still get the nod for the National League roster. Maybe both.

Who plays second base for the National League All Star roster? Brandon Phillips has been unreal for Cincinnati and is perhaps on his way to his best year yet. I also think Martin Prado(Braves) and Kelly Johnson(Arizona) should get a look. Juan Uribe(Giants) has also been an incredible asset for San Francisco this season and is on pace for 100 RBI.

Third base for the National League All Star roster should go to Scott Rolen of Cincy. Rolen is having a career year after many thought he was on his way out. His 14 HR's and 43 RBI while batting near .300 is very impressive and should get him the nod. Don't forget David Wright(Mets) and Troy Glaus(Braves) are also rolling into the All Star Break.

What about shortstop for the National League All Star roster? My predictions and picks say that Troy Tulowitzki of Colorado will earn the start. Don't expect Hanley "doesn't hustle" Ramirez(Marlins) to get many votes despite some fantastic numbers.

The outfield for the National League All Star roster is even harder to choose.
My gut instinct is to go with Andre Ethier(Dodgers), Ryan Braun(Milwaukee) and Jason Heyward(Atlanta) for my National League starting roster.

How about pitching? Ubaldo Jiminez is the hand down start. For Colorado, Jiminez has sparkled to an 11-1 record with an ERA still under 1. Josh Johnson(Marlins), Chris Carpenter(Cardinals) and Roy Halladay(Phillies) should also be starters. There are way too many good pitchers to guess who else could be on the National League roster list.

Relief pitcher would be Heath Bell(Padres) and Jonathan Broxton(Dodgers). Matt Capps(Washington) and Francisco Cordero(Cincy) would make the list with the number of saves but their respective ERA's aren't anywhere in the vicinity of Bell and Broxton. Those two have been relatively untouchable so far in the first half.

I'll be back in a few days with my predictions for the American League All Star rosters!
