The 2010 McConnell Conference is bringing young adult and children's literature authors and illustrators John Green, David Wiesner and Dandi Daley Mackall to Lexington, Kentucky. The conference, which starts on Friday evening February 26th and wraps up on Saturday afternoon, February 27th, is sponsored by the University of Kentucky School of Library and Information Science.

The 2010 McConnell Conference "draws librarians, teachers, and other professionals who work with youth to share ideas, examine materials, and meet authors, illustrators, and other leaders in the field of Youth Literature" (University of Kentucky School of Library and Information Science, 2009). The guest speakers at this conference are professional authors and illustrators working in the field that offer insight into where they get their inspiration for writing as well as several opportunities to get your favorite book autographed.

John Green is best known for his young adult mystery books. Titles include Looking for Alaska, An Abundance of Katherines, and Paper Towns. John Green lives in Indianapolis, IN.

David Wiesner is a picture book author and illustrator, specializing in fanciful tales with incredibly detailed illustrations. His wordless picture book, Flotsam, offers an incredible story through only pictures. He is also known for his books Tuesday and The Three Pigs and he has won multiple Caldecott Awards. Wiesner lives in Philadelphia, PA.

Dandi Daley Mackall has published approximately 400 books, in addition to dozens of magazine articles. Larger than Life Laura was a Kentucky Bluegrass Award finalist. Daley Mackall continues to write from her home in rural Ohio.
