2010 MLB Draft Order, Washington Nationals on Clock

Ryan Christopher DeVault
The 2010 MLB Draft order has the Washington Nationals on the clock already. The 2010 MLB Draft order is set in reverse order based on which teams had the worst records in Major League Baseball last season. It was the Washington Nationals that posted the worst record in baseball for the second consecutive season, and as a result they have the No. 1 overall pick for the second straight year. In the 2009 MLB Draft Washington took Stephen Strasburg with the first overall picks, and he is already scheduled to make his first Major League start tomorrow. Can they get that lucky with their first pick in the 2010 MLB Draft order? If we believe the hype, then this year the Nationals could be getting the offensive equivalent of Strasburg.

The Washington Nationals are assumed to be taking stud catcher Bryce Harper with the first overall pick, adding a lot of power from the left side of the plate to their future prospects. Harper could be one of those players to make it through the minor leagues very quickly, and he could soon be part of a tandem with Stephen Strasburg for many years to come. After that first overall pick, it's anyone's guess where things will be heading. We posted a mock draft of the first ten picks as we think they will play out, but with no stud on the same level as Harper (at least projected that way), there are several directions that teams further down in the 2010 MLB Draft order can go.
