2010 Most Anticipated Movies

Neoavatara
Now, please note...this is just the most hyped movies of the year, and the ones I am personally most interested in. I am sure there are dozens, if not more, of excellent movies coming out. But on hype alone, these should get you started for a wonderful year of movie watching.

Please note: The movies are listed in chronological order. Additionally, you can keep up with my up coming movie list here.Daybreakers - January 8, 2010

You sick of Twilight, and its kissy kissy vampires? Well, here are some real vampires. In a world virtually taken over by Vampires, the human race still exists...as a food source. Unfortunately...the food source is running out.Alice in Wonderland - March 5, 2010

Tim Burton! Johnny Depp! Helena Bonham Carter as the Queen of Hearts! In 3-D! An adult Alice, now 19 (played by newcome Mia Waskiowska) returns to Wonderland...and the adventure begins. (The video cannot be embedded, but can be seen here.)Clash of the Titans - March 26, 2010

A beautiful movie for its time, the 1981 classic starring Harry Hamlin has been a cult hit for years. Now comes the modern, CGI enhanced version. In what looks like a mix of Gladiator and 300, Hollywood tries to bring back the aura of the Greek heavens. I am really unsure of this movie...but the trailer looks pretty awesome.Iron Man 2 - May 7, 2010

httpv://www.youtube.com/watch?v=siQgD9qOhRs

The first Iron Man (to my great and everlasting surprise) kicked ass. I hated Robert Downey Jr. and Gwyneth Paltrow. But you have to love them after the first film.

Adding Mickey Rourke as the villain, and Scarlet Johannson as Black Widow? Brilliance. And don't tell me you don't think Scarlett looks great in red hair...

Robin Hood - May 14, 2010

httpv://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KSqL9ygBCck

Another revision of the classic English tale. But with Ridley Scott and Russell Crowe (Gladiator), as well as Cate Blanchett as a widowed former-Maid Marian, I will have to give this one the benefit of the doubt. Has to be better than Kevin Costner's American accented Robin, doesn't it?A-Team - June 10, 2010

httpv://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_MVonyVSQoM

Yes, that A Team. Above is the intro for the original 80s series. You can hum along the intro music, can't you?

Hannibal, Faceman, Murdock...and B.A. Baracus. I just hope they have the van with the red stripe (and apparently they do, behind the smoke in the pic above), because otherwise, it would simply be silly.Toy Story 3 - June 18, 2010

I love Pixar movies...just love them. And now that I have a kid, I am not that creepy guy that goes to the 'kids' movie alone. That said, Toy Story is actually one of my least favorite of Pixar's movies. But I will never doubt the geniuses at Pixar. The movie, set 10 years after the last one, shows the toys looking for a new home, after their previous owners heads to college. This is anticipated to be in 3-D...which should be fantastic.Twilight Saga: Eclipse - June 30, 2010

I love Kristen Stewart, but I frankly don't know if I can take another episode of this painful saga, and watch her depressive state for two hours, while a lame werewolf and limp vampire fight for her love. I don't know...somehow, this series just seems like it should be so much better. Vampires and werewolves and Kristen Stewart...how could it go wrong?Avatar: The Last Airbender - July 2nd, 2010

httpv://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9W1dhqc-JBs

I know...Avatar has been removed from the title because of James Cameron's movie (look above) That said...for those that don't know, this started out as a Nickolodeon cartoon series. Of which, I am a ridiculously fanatical fan of. I know, I am a geek. But the story is quite intricate and detailed, and describes a fascinating world. You can see a brief taste of it here:

httpv://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2ZOHCYQ_7KQ

It describes a world made of four great nations: Earth, Fire, Air, and Water. The Avatar is a reincarnating being who can master all four elements...and is the only being that can maintain balance in the world. Unfortunately, the Avatar has been missing for 100 years. That has allowed the imperial Fire nation to wage war on the rest of the world.

The Director is M. Night Shymalan, who has not really had a hit since The Sixth Sense. I hold out hope for this one.The Expendables - August 20, 2010

O.K., you testosterone filled gorillas out there. Throw Sylvester Stallone, Jason Statham, Jet Li, Dolph Lungren, Mickey Rourke, Eric Roberts...and yes, Arnold 'the Governator' Schwartzenegger and Bruce Willis, and what do you got? I don't know, other than it is going to make a bundle of money opening weekend.Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows, Part 1 - November 19, 2010

This is a movie that Potter fans have been waiting anxiously for over a decade to see. And this isn't even the finale, with part 2 expected in 2011. This movie takes a dark turn, as the final episode is basically the beginning of a wizard's war. Deaths are plentiful, and Harry, Hermione, and Ron are out in the real world, away from the relative security of Hogwarts.

Yes, I am a Potter fan...and I can't wait to see what they do with this book. This is so different from the other movies, who knows how it will turn out. My guess? The biggest money maker of the year.Tron Legacy - December 17, 2010

httpv://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iVcM-v3BCgc

The sequel to the 1982 original (something about early 80s remakes?) will obviously be glorious in IMAX 3-D. The computer world created by Jeff Bridges in the original re-emerges, as his son looks to find out what happened to his missing father. The lovely Olivia Wilde co-stars.
