2010 Movie Sequels and Remakes

Ten Must See Upcoming Movies in 2010 - Film Sequels

Ranee Wright
Film sequels and remakes are often on the list of movie releases in theaters and frequently huge disappoints. The list of 2010 movies lead all past unoriginal Hollywood endeavors but with the diversity of these films, at least one should suit your movie taste. Drive-in theaters are a great choice for summer fun under the stars and often cheaper than cinema centers.

These ten 2010 movie sequels and remakes are listed chronologically. The dates of these already released or upcoming movies in 2010 are subject to change, so be sure to check your local theaters listings before venturing out to see these movie sequels.

Iron Man 2 (May 7)

Already a big box office hit, this hugely anticipated sequel includes a stellar cast and is directed by Jon Favreau. Tony Stark, a billionaire inventor is Iron Man played by Robert Downey, Jr. who battles the dark Ivan Vanko (Mickey Rourke), a Russian inventor after Stark's secrets.

Gwyneth Paltrow (Pepper Potts) finally returns to Hollywood after a long break. Potts and James "Rhodey" Rhodes (Don Cheadle) help Iron Man fight evil forces that are trying to steal the secret behind the iron suit. Sam Rockwell, Scarlett Johansson, and Samuel L. Jackson also star in this action adventure that is actually ten times better than the prequel.

Shrek Forever After 3-D (May 21)

The fourth and final Shrek is directed by Mike Mitchell and all previous cast members will play their respective roles. Shrek (Mike Myers) is restless and longs for his old ogre days so he signs an agreement with the deceptive Rumpelstiltskin. With the stroke of the pen, life as Shrek knew it ends. He becomes the hunted and must fight to return things to normal, save his friends (Eddie Murphy, Antonio Banderas) and reconnect with his wife, Fiona (Cameron Diaz) and family.

The Shrek series has yet to disappoint viewers and is sure to be a big hit, especially because it is in 3-D. While this may be the final sequel, a prequel is set to be released in 2011: Puss in Boots: Story of an Ogre Killer.

Sex and the City 2 (May 27)

Another highly anticipated sequel will star the four main actresses from the 2008 film and HBO TV series, along with Chris Noth as Mr. Big and Penelope Cruz as Lydia. Directed by Michael Patrick King. The girls take their friendship, fashion and fun to the Middle East. Miley Cyrus, Heidi Klum and Mariah Carey will also make appearances as themselves. The soundtrack will surely be as popular as the film. It features Alicia Keys, Dido, Leona Lewis and Jennifer Hudson.

A-Team (June 11)

One of my favorite shows from younger years will star Liam Neeson as Colonel Smith. Quinton 'Rampage' Jackson will play Sergeant Baracus (Mr. T). Murdock will star Sharlto Copley and Bradley Cooper will play Lieutenant "Faceman" Peck. The basis of the film involves the four fighting to clear their name after being framed for a crime they did not commit.

The Karate Kid (June 11)

Jackie Chan will play Mr. Han in this 2010 movie remake. Mr. Han teaches 12 year old Dre Parker kung fu and the art of tranquility.

Toy Story 3 (June 18)

The original cast returns to provide the voices behind this Disney film sequel. The toys end up in a daycare center when Andy goes off to college.

The Twilight Saga: Eclipse (June 30)

Unlike most, the first Twilight movie was enough for me.

The Last Airbender (July 2)

Based on Nickelodeon's animated series, this action-adventure film will surely attract the teens and tweens. Aang (Noah Ringer) must use his power to control air, water, earth, and fire to save the world.

Predators (July 9)

With the great technology and graphics available today, Predators could be a promising remake if this is your sort of movie. The Predators are aliens hunting a group of soldiers through the jungle.

Step Up 3-D (August 6)

Disney tries to take advantage of the 3D rage with this film sequel about street dancers from New York City.

These ten movie releases in theaters and upcoming movies in 2010 are possibly the best releases in theaters to choose from this year. At least one of these sequels or remakes should meet your entertainment needs.

I was disappointed in Shrek 4. Toy Story 3 was great, but where was a certain lady? Is there going to be TS4?

This is scary. I'm so glad I'm not a film reviewer anymore, because I don't think I could watch most of these, even if I were getting paid to do so.
