2010 MTV Video Music Awards List of Winners: 30 Seconds to Mars Among VMA Winners

The 2010 MTV VMA winners list for the Video Music Awards is controversial, as Lady Gaga made almost a clean sweep. Some are disgruntled that the list was so lop-sided, but on the flip side she is one of the frontrunners in our musical industry today. However, besides Lady Gaga and Eminem there were some different names on the list of winners as well. For instance, 30 Seconds to Mars, Florence, Muse, and The Black Keys all won awards.

Perhaps more interesting than Lady Gaga's meat suit, or Ke$ha's garbage bag dresswere the artists who won awards that weren't the eccentric pop star.

What's interesting about 30 Seconds to Mars is that they were formed 12 years ago, and are composed of Jared Leto (yes, that Jared Leto - the actor), Shannon Leto, and Tomo Miličević. Their 2005 album, Beautiful Lie, won several MTV awards in Europe, and four Kerrang Awards. They're far from unheard of, yet somehow they seemed "shocked" with last night's win.

They were up against Florence and the Machine, MGMT, Muse and Paramore.

Their video, Kings and Queens, was nominated for Video of the Year, but was no match for Lady Gaga's "Bad Romance."

Jared Leto said "Thank you. This is amazing. This award really doesn't so much belong to us. It belongs to the most amazing family of friends and fans around the world that we could've have ever imagined. We're happy to accept it on their behalf. Thank you to MTV. Thank you to our label, to our management company. We're really proud to be here, proud to share it with all the other artists. It's been an amazing adventure, so thank you." While accepting the award.

The 2010 VMA Awards took place at the Nokia Theater in Los Angeles last night. The show had performances by Eminem, Justin Bieber, and not to mention Kanye West and a surprise performance by Taylor Swift.

From crazy fashions which included Lady Gaga's meat dress to Katy Perry's Russell Brand adorned nails, the white carpet was white hot. The only potentially disappointing thing for the night was that Lady Gaga won most of the awards she was nominated for, thus making some feel that other musicians and artists were forgotten about.
