2010 NBA All-Star Voting Results Embarrassing to Fans of Basketball
The NBA Fans Could Be Voting Wrong People to Start 2010 All-Star Game
Right now the current vote leaders in the Eastern Conference are guards Dwyane Wade and Allen Iverson, forwards LeBron James and Kevin Garnett, and center Dwight Howard. Over in the Western Conference, the vote leaders are guards Kobe Bryant and Tracy McGrady, forwards Carmelo Anthony and Dirk Nowitzki, and center Amar'e Stoudemire. Some of the choices aren't bad, and some players are very deserving, but there aren't many arguments that support McGrady and Iverson starting the All-Star game, or even being on the team. During the 2009-2010 season, Tracy McGrady has played in six games and averages 3.2 points per game. As for Allen Iverson, he has played in 15 games, and is averaging 14.7 points per game, with three games for Memphis before he quit.
The fans are supposed to vote for the players that they want to see play in the 2010 NBA All-Star game, but it's starting to seem more and more like fans are just voting on past performances, and not really on who actually deserves to be an all-star. In the West, Kevin Durant needs to be starting, but that's another issue because he plays forward. How about Steve Nash, Chris Paul, or Deron Williams instead of Tracy McGrady? Maybe even Brandon Roy? These are all players having great seasons who haven't quit on their teams, and McGrady isn't even in Houston right now. In the Eastern Conference we have Joe Johnson and Rajon Rondo who are way more deserving than Allen Iverson.
It's a struggle to still support the way that fans are voting for the 2010 NBA All Star game, and though it is intended to be a "game for the fans" it seems that the real fans aren't the ones who are supporting players like McGrady and Iverson to start the game. This is bad for basketball as both players refused to play for their teams this season, and now people are rewarding them with yet another All-Star game for the whining. Come on people; there is still time to vote and go make a change to this current starting lineup because it could really hinder the entertainment value of the game.

Post a CommentSteve Nash is the best!!!
i think michael redd shouid be in the allstargame
I agree that some of the fans seem to vote on past performances or voting for their favorite player. The All-Star game is about the players that are the stars of the game for that year. It's not about the past or favorite players. Tracy McGrady should be replaced with Chris Paul and AI should be thrown to the wolves like he has did to the past teams he has played for. Rajon Rondo would have been the good selection. For now on, the coaches should select the starters since the fans have proven to be incompetent.
gotta let the chinese fans vote man. don't extend the voting. t mac and ai should give up their spots and claim injury. happy ending for everybody.
I voted djmbenga. oh wait. the chinese don't know him. why didn't they get matt bullard on the all star team?
T-Mac is a decent player, but should not have been included in the ballot because of injuries. Steve Nash, Chris Paul or Brandon Roy are still tops in their game and healthy. AI is a talented player, but seems to have issues that keep him from concentrating on his game. And why would anyone waste a vote on Yao Ming when he's recovering from surgery? There are lots of great centers who deserve the vote! Makes you wonder if it's fair to let the fans vote.
I think it is rediculous to vote Tracy McGrady and Allen Iverson as starters in the all star game. Neither have played enough to be voted onto the first team and McGrady haven't even played at all. Currently he doesn't even have a team. The fan vote for sgtarters have always been suspect. The coaches and players should vote for the starters and the fans should vote for the next five and the coaches should vote for the remainder. Let's get this right before it gers more rediculous than it already is.
Thanks fo the link. I voted for McGrady and Yao Ming. Go TMac.
Steve Nash deserves the start!! Tracy has not even played this year!!!! A I was a all-star caliber player not this year!! Get it right!!
don't hate on tmac when he doesn't even get a chance to play. he's healthy and can help any team.
