Guard
Steve Nash is their premier guard and star player, but he will not be there forever. He is starting to get a little old and he is starting to slow down a little bit. With all of the talent that is in the draft pool this year, it may be the best time to snatch up a new guard for Nash to shape and mold into his replacement. One perfect fit for this may be Luke Babbit. While Babbit plays forward currently, he has the build and skill set of a guard. He is a little rough around the edges, but has shown that he is more than capable of learning. He has the ability to be a great player and can be the perfect replacement for Nash. He is also under most team's radar and can possible last in the draft long enough for the Suns to snatch him up. Evan Turner would be another nice fit, but he is going to be gone within the first two selections.
Center
There is no standout center on the team anymore. The Suns have three big men that can fill this position, but I do not see this as a long term solution. With several power centers on the market in the draft this year, it is likely that the Suns will snatch one up. As I said in the beginning of this article, there is really nothing that the Suns need in the draft this year, but of all the positions where they could use a little boost, Center is one of those. With players like Greg Monroe out there, it is possible to see a new Center grace the court after the draft. Just like the Nash predicament, they can easily nab a powerful big man and mold him into the perfect franchise player.
Most of the players in the draft are willing and able to learn. Phoenix can really capitalize on this and play Dr. Frankenstein with these young players. They can create the greatest team to grace a court in the history of the game with the keys they have now and the right draft picks. With the pure talent available in the draft and the well oiled machine they have on the court, they can easily produce some great players that will keep the synchronization they currently have while adding the superstar abilities of superior athletes. Likely, there is not much to be expected in the draft this season. At most they will pick the best of what is left when their pick comes around. They could also benefit from trading away their choices for cash or a player. Not a lot will be going on though, and that is okay. The Suns have a dynamic team that will be mostly intact next season. There is really not much you can do to improve on the ability of the current team.
