2010 NBA Draft Order Continues to Shift for Minnesota and Memphis

Memphis and Minnesota Both Have Multiple First Round Picks in the 2010 NBA Draft

The 2010 NBA Draft order has changed again, and through trades has shifted a number of teams. The 2010 NBA Draft order of course won't be completely set in stone until the end of the 2010 NBA season, but twists and turns are already taking place. Several draft picks were traded recently, but there were also lottery picks that were traded a while ago which could come to haunt teams playing terribly this season. One of those teams is the New York Knicks, who don't own their 2010 NBA Draft pick after trading it to get Marbury back in 2004.

The 2010 NBA Draft Order will be set on the last day of the regular season, but it will be adjusted again based on the lottery system. The worst teams in the NBA get ping pong balls associated with how badly their team played, with the worst team getting the most ping pong balls. Then those balls are all thrown into a machine, and the lottery teams are all drawn out of the machine randomly. It shakes up the draft order, and tries to prevent a team from completely tanking just to get the No. 1 pick. The worst team still has the best shot, but it also gives every other non-playoff team a chance at the No. 1 pick as well.

Memphis gets picks from Denver and the Lakers, Minnesota gets the Utah and Charlotte picks, Clippers got Minnesota's pick, Miami got Toronto's pick, Milwaukee got Chicago's pick, New Jersey got Dallas's pick, OKC got Phoenix's pick, Washington got Cleveland's pick, and finally Utah got New York's pick through trades that have occurred.
