2010 NBA Draft Preview: John Wall

Kentucky Wildcat Star Freshman Set to Be Top Overall Pick in NBA Draft

John Wall, the 19 year old point guard out of Kentucky is considered by many to be the NBA's number one pick. ESPN's Chad Ford considers Wall to be the best player in the draft. According to ESPN John Wall is 6'4 196 lbs and averaged an impressive 16.6 points per game. John also passed the ball around well averaging 6.5 assists per game and grabbed 4.3 rebounds per game. Fox Sports Jeff Goodman calls Walls "complete no-brainer" that John is the "one guy in this draft with superstar potential written all over him."

Strengths

1) He is the top player in the draft. NBAdraft.net calls him "one of the most electrifying players to come out of the college ranks in years"

2) Help turn around Kentucky in one year.

3) Has the upswing of youth and being 19, should have time to improve and have a long career.

Weaknesses

1) Lack of experience, John is only 19 and played only one year at Kentucky. He has the upswing of potential with his youth, but also comes with the struggles of his youth.

2) Will he be able to handle just finding out by a Washington Post reporter "that his father was convicted of second-degree murder" reported by the Times-Tribune.

3) Bleacher Report stated "his fast-tempo style of play causes him to be turnover prone."

Probable Team

Unless, there is a blockbuster trade John Wall is going to be selected by the Washington wizards. The Wizards will have a formidable back court if Gilbert Arena can return without his guns. The Wizards will be a young team and will have two more selections in the draft, number 30 and 35. The Wizards could also be active in the free agent market. Walls is a key part of the Wizards rebuilding process, however Washington will still have growing pains.
