2010 NCAA Tournament Bracket and Seeds

Selection Sunday Analysis for the 2010 NCAA Tournament

Jackson Lewis
The NCAA Tournament Selection Committee unveiled the 65-team NCAA tournament bracket on the CBS Selection Sunday television program. There were some surprises in the NCAA Tournament seeds with Villanova being awarded a #2 seed despite having a lackluster end to their season, while some of the teams that failed to get enough work done to make the tournament included Virginia Tech, Ole Miss, Rhode Island, and Mississippi State.

2010 NCAA Tournament Sleepers

Old Dominion

One of the potential sleepers in this this year's tournament include Old Dominion University, who upset Georgetown earlier this season and is playing as an 11 seed in the South. ODU has to get past Baylor in the first round, but if they do, they have the potential to make it to the Sweet Sixteen in the 2010 NCAA Tourney.

Tennessee Volunteers

The Tennessee Volunteers were one of two teams to upset the Kentucky Wildcats this season and also notched a win over the #1 ranked Kansas Jayhawks earlier in the season as well. The Vols only received a #6 seed from the selection committee despite this and could be a potential sleeper in this year's tournament. Coach Pearl has historically been able to motivate his players into over-performing when they are considered the underdog. A six seed helps him out perfectly. Assuming the Vols make it past SDSU in the opening round of the NCAA tournament, if they can upset the #3 seed Georgetown Hoyas, the Vols have the ability and experience to make it to the Elite Eight this season.

Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets

The Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets entered the 2010 ACC Tournament being considered a bubble team, but demonstrated an extremely strong post game and took Duke to the wire in the ACC Championship. Georgia Tech was able to earn a #10 seed in the midwest and will be taking on Oklahoma State in the opening round of the 2010 NCAA Tournament. If the Cowboys have a weak night shooting from 3 against the Yellow Jackets, Georgia Tech could have a strong shot to make the 2010 Sweet Sixteen.
