2010 NFC North Division Predictions; NFL Picks

Green Bay Packers 11-5
The Packers have addressed their biggest need, offensive line, with drafting Bryan Bulaga in the first round. Although this will not solve all of their offensive line issues, it's a great start. Rodgers is turning into a top 5 quarterback, and their defense continues to improve. The NFC North is becoming one of the tougher divisions from top to bottom, but the Packers are good enough to come away with 11 wins and the NFC North title.

Minnesota Vikings 9-7
What a difference a Favre makes. I am assuming that Favre will actually hang it up and not return, but if he does comeback than this 9-7 will look more like a 12-4. Tavaris Jackson is good enough to get the Vikings to 8-8 or in this case 9-7, but not much better even with all of their weapons. The defense is not getting any younger unless Everson Griffen and Chris Cook can contribute this season. Adrian Peterson will not be very effective if the Vikings lack a quarterback that can complete passes.

Chicago Bears 8-8
The Bears are possibly the most intriguing and least talked about team in the upcoming season. After signing Peppers, the Bears haven't generated much publicity and everyone is writing them off due to the strength of Green Bay and Minnesota. The wide receiving group remains to be a big problem for the Bears and will not be much different this year. The Bears are stockpiling solid #2 and #3 receivers without getting a #1 that commands attention from the opposing secondary. Peppers should prove to be very effective in a division where the offensive lines are mediocre at best. If the Bears can get production out of their offensive line, and have a couple of receivers step up, they could have a very very good year. The Bears could end up anywhere from 5-11 to 11-5, so we will just average it out and go with 8-8.

Detroit Lions 5-11
It doesn't take much to be considered the most improved team in the NFL when you were 2-14 the previous year, but the Lions are making the necessary moves. I seem to be one of the only Lions fans who are against the Jahvid Best pick, but only time will tell. I am not concerned about injury problems, I simply thought that a power back would fit the system much more efficiently to compliment the speedy Aaron Brown who showed a lot of promise in 2009. The Lions will have one of the more exciting offenses in the NFL , but that won't matter if Stafford is playing from his backside. The defensive line went from one of the worst in the NFL to top 5, while the offensive line got a guard stronger in Rob Sims, but otherwise remained as pathetic as last year. 5-11 is a generous prediction considering they have a non-BCS school quality secondary outside of Louis Delmas.
