More interesting was the end of two impressive Ohio State streaks: for the first time since 2005, no Buckeyes player was chosen in the first round, and for the first time since 1998, no Buckeyes went in the first three rounds.
Thaddeus Gibson, a standout defensive end/linebacker, was the first Ohio State player to be drafted, going in the fourth round to the Pittsburgh Steelers with the 116th overall pick.
Florida led the way with nine players drafted, followed by Alabama, Oklahoma and Southern California. Defensive backs were the most-picked position, with 50 selected, and the SEC led all conferences with 49 players chosen.
