A Fast, Strong, Inexperienced Offensive Tackle

Mike Spain
Bruce Campbell is the 6'7 314lb junior offensive tackle out of Maryland. Campbell is a workout monster, who is cut and strong. Scout.com lists Campbell as a five-star prospect, the number four offensive tackle, and the 22nd best prospect overall in the 2010 NFL draft.

Bruce Campbell's Strengths

1) Scout.com reported Bruce Campbell "set a new Combine record for an offensive lineman: a 4.78 in the 40-yard dash."

2) Great size, Campbell is tall and well put together.

3) Northwestfootball.net's Brian McIntyre reports Campbell "did 34 reps in the 225-pound bench press" at the combine, so he is plenty strong.

Bruce Campbell's Weaknesses

1) McIntyre reported "there are questions about Campbell's technique, as he only started 17 games at Maryland before declaring for the NFL Draft.

2) Collegefootballnews.com Pete Fiutak states Bruce "didn't have a great career" at Maryland.

3) Fiutak doesn't think Campbell is "much of a run blocker."

4) Fiutak states Bruce Campbell "struggled with his durability."

5) Campbell is coming out of a school that did not have a winning record.

6) Jan Hubbard of the Fort Worth Star Telegram reports "a negative Campbell has besides experience, it's a condition called Arnold-Chiari."

Bruce Campbell will be drafted by the Indianapolis Colts in the first round

It is hard to project where Bruce Campbell will be selected. Campbell has the physical size and physique for the NFL. Campbell has great potential with those gifts. Bruce lacks experience and his technique needs to improve. The Colts could pick him in the first round and let Bruce develop. It is possible a team like Green Bay might select Campbell earlier. It is also possible he could slip into the second round. If he is available in the second round Tampa, Detroit and Green Bay would be interested. The farther Bruce drops the more his pick could be justified and his draft value increases.
